Lovely hotel, but very expensive. Lovely room, couldn't fault the housekeeping. Booked breakfast a few days ,lovely buffet breakfast but a bit expensive especially as kids pay full$30 at age 10. I didn't like the cafeteria style cafe at all. Have to say the "cast members" were excellent, the service at the hotel was brilliant and genuine. Beautiful view from balcony,we pushed the boat out for a savannah view. Really lovely but wouldn't do it again as very expensive and you can easily see the animals at the hotel from other view points. Lovely pool, open till 11pm,lovely atmosphere.
This place is amazing. Seeing all the wildlife around the property is a real treat! Nice sized rooms, great for families. Both pools are awesome. The restaurant in the basement is also top notch, amazing food!
We loved the theming of this resort. The lobbies and public areas were great. We stayed in two rooms. Our first room was savannah view and we loved seeing animals, but there was as fencing everywhere and they seemed to be limited to small areas. Also, our room was located at the end of the longest hallway I’ve ever seen. I don’t mind walking, but wow. It was at least 1000 steps and with luggage or at the end of a park day, it took forever. With rooms this far, they should offer to help guests w luggage or ride on their many golf carts. No offers. With this info, I requested a room closer to the lobby for our second room. This room was next to the lobby, looking out on the valet parking. It was awful. At all hours, there were delivery vehicles outside of our room, shuttles, everything. Even with white white noise and ear plugs, it kept us awake. The staff kept referring us to use the app, rather than interact with them. When I asked a question at the front desk related to transportation, staff started contradicting each other and it got very awkward. We also had problems w housekeeping. On our final day, they loudly banged on our door at 8:30 am, yelling housekeeping! Waking up my exhausted kids. We could hear them doing the same for other rooms. Check out was 11am and we had alarms set. There is no reason for them to do this. They returned at 10:30, checking to see if we were still there. It was awkward and a terrible way to end our stay there. It made us feel like we were kicked out and it was disrespectful. We will choose another place to stay on our next trip.…
We had our first stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge as we check our 10th Disney property off the list. It is a typical Disney resort: unique yet familiar. There is the magnificent lobby, the great restaurants, the arcade, the pool area, great fitness area and a wonderful room. We had the no view of the savanna with kitchen, 2 bathrooms, king bed and sleeper sofa and chair. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. There are lots of places to sit and watch the animals on property so if mobility is not a problem, I would save the money and walk to the viewing areas. The animals are a wonderful way to relax and sit for an hour or two. There is a community room and outdoor sports courts as well. Kidani is not as large as Jambo House lobby and restaurants but had everything we needed. Another great Disney property. We haven’t stayed in a dud yet!…
Absolutely loved Jambo hated Kidani Our room was no lie at least a mile from check in, dark gloomy hall ways , was in a back corner I think like room 7655? Jambo 100 Percent can't wait to go back.... Kidani NEVER.
Tricky review to write as we spent very little time at the hotel given we wanted to maximise our time in the parks. Overall impression is that the hotel was pretty good - pool area was nice but busy and main lobby area was pleasant but quite dark. Felt the hotel was pretty much at capacity though and this was obvious with big queues at restaurants etc. We only had breakfast at the buffet restaurant once (which was ok) and had a few evening snacks, breakfasts etc as takeaways from Mara - again ok but expensive for what we got. Two disappointing aspects to our stay: (1) room was only made up once in a week and bins were not even emptied on the other days - unacceptable. And why? Short staffed, hangover from COVID - not really sure (2) we had a first floor room at the front of the hotel where the verandah over the walkway obscured the view to the extent that it was almost impossible to tell if it was night or day outside……not a huge issue as we spent very little time in the room but really quite poor and it would have been an issue had we been there more. We had been trying to book better room for months before our stay but were told no others were available. All in all a good stay but our experience with the accommodation was average compared to when we last stayed in Yacht Club 5 years ago.…
Love the hotel. The issue leading to the lower score is this. Thursday evening was a RunDisney night event. In addition, it was a DVC member night at Epcot. Many guests did not get back to the resort until the 1:00-2:00 AM window, including me. My checkout was Friday at 11 AM-mousekeeping pounded on the door, waking me up at 8:00 AM asking me what time I was leaving. I would have liked to sleep longer than 5-6 hours and to be woken up early after late night events is unaccaptable. The hotel also needs a food court/quick serve dining location like the other Disney resorts-the trek to the main lodge got old after awhile.
First stay at AKL, the room was excellent with the savanna view. Would highly recommend getting a savanna view room, it is definitely worth waking up to the giraffes, zebras and other animals roaming around. The hotel was beautiful, excellent food choices. The only 2 negatives for us were the complete lack of housekeeping for a 2 week stay. We only saw housekeeping once and that was the day we checked out and they asked when we were leaving. The other was how far out the hotel is and how it always felt like we were stuck waiting ages for buses with a big queue to get on the buses back to the hotel. It actually took us over an hour one evening to get to Hollywood studios which caused us to be late for our reservation at Ogas. The staff were all lovely though and contacted the cantina to inform them we would be late because of Disney transportation.…
The animals were so fun to watch each morning. The 2-bedroom villa was perfect for us. The only reasons I can’t give it 5 stars is because our villa wasn’t ready until 6 pm. It was a 4 pm check in, so we were stuck waiting for hours with 2 tired kids. We got zero apology on, which was disappointing considering how much it costs to stay. The buses to Animal Kingdom from Hollywood Studios are practically non-existent, so after quite a wait, we just got an Uber. I’ll have better expectation management if we choose to stay there again.
We love to wake up and see animals enjoying their breakfast, and we see them throughout the day too. I enjoy the parking under the building (Kidani Village) in the shade and close to our unit. Bus transportation wherever we want to go 'in the world' works great. It's close to scoot off property by car to Wal-Mart etc. out the back way. Pools were under renovation so we can't speak to that, and besides it was too cold for us to use the pools anyway (50s F). We also love the tiles in the bedroom shower and the single fold out chair/bed in the living room. Excellent place for an exchange, although Disney is dropping RCI at the end of 2023.
