Great little place with an amazing courtyard and the owners are fabulous! Stayed two nights for a friends wedding/ reception. Area is gorgeous and the owners are so nice and helpful! Breakfast was amazing and a bit fancier than we are used to! Great area to walk and explore as well. We were there when all of US 290 was...

What a surprise. From the monment I called Gretchen to our check out with Troy, just one word....Awesome! We stayed in the Cottage, which had full kitchen & a huge bathroom to include another bath & half. This B&B is located in Monticello, FL, a very quaint town near Tallassee, FL. Lots to see & do. The breakfast was hearty,...

We just made our reservations for FSU football season - our third year of staying with Troy and Gretchen on football weekends. Besides lovely accommodations, we feel so welcomed each time we are there. Gretchen treats me like a friend - inviting me to come along on errands or shopping trips, joining her for a glass of wine. It is...

We had a lovely weekend and great breakfasts, which were served at 9am. I especially liked the baked french toast made with cream cheese & orange juice. Our bed had a pillow top and was very comfortable. The owners could not have been nicer and were very gracious about our late arrival. Parking is on the main street that runs...

Avera-Clarke House is a step back into nostalgia and elegance. Troy and Gretchen can not do enough to make your stay above and beyond. The garden and the extra space for guests outside gives you many options for relaxing. Although they are only set up with 4 or 5 guest bedrooms the outside roofed area and gardens can accommodate large...

Troy and Gretchen were terrific hosts. We learned about their careers and travels, where Gretchen collected many of the whimsical decorative arts and antiques which adorn this late-Victorian mansion. My wife won this at a charity golf tournament, and we will definitely recommend this B&B to friends and relatives. I would describe the decor as "whimsical eclectic". There are some...

I came across The Avera Clarke House on an internet search after finding out a place in nearby Thomasville was already booked. Troy and Gretchen are wonderful hosts and were so informative about the area and it's history. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good too! We enjoyed our time there so much we are already planning...

Troy and Gretchen are like family you didn't know you had! I am normally more of a large luxury hotel person but when staying in small towns, like to do B&B's. We were lucky to get 2 nights at this charming house the weekend of FSU graduation. It was less than 30 minutes to get to/from Tallahassee but a world...

We love staying here every year for the annual Monticello Watermelon Festival! Gretchen and Troy are the most charming hosts! The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, so comfortable and clean. The house is a historic landmark and within walking distance to downtown, shopping and dining. The grounds are beautiful with a huge backyard and hammock and grill for outdoor dining...

“The cottage, which they rent as well, is a historical building so make sure you ask!!”

“I would guess that all rooms are a positive experience.”
Red002, 26 Mar 2015 | Read review
“From what we could tell, there are four rooms available, with one queen bed in each. One suite, in a detached cottage that goes back to the early 19th century, has a kitchen. Three of the bedrooms are on the second floor, accessible only via a grand old staircase. (The facility does not appear to be ADA compliant.) Two of those second floor bedrooms share a bath. Downstairs there is a cozy parlor, a formal dining room, a grand foyer and an enclosed sun porch, which serves as the dining room for the wonderful breakfast. The porch looks out on to a large, covered gazebo, which would appear to accommodate about 60 for an outdoor wedding or special event.”

“There is also an outside cabin for families and they have two rooms that are joined by a bath for those traveling with their kids.”
