We had a 2 bedroom in building 5 (room 5301). It was an excellent location - we could see the hot tub and pool deck from our room since it was a corner unit. It also has a nice view of the lake and palm trees. We enjoyed the poolside ping pong, bill1ards and bean bag toss. The pool was heated and very nice. They did however, have limited number of lounge chairs due to Covid so we got to the pool early. My son spent hours playing volleyball in the pool. They had trivia, name that tune and bingo poolside. The 2 bedroom unit is spacious. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen had everything you needed for cooking. They provided 2 laundry detergents for the washer. The grills were nice. We balcony was nice for eating outside. It would have been room for a lounge chair too but they did not have one. We enjoyed the benefit of also going to the Trump National Doral pool across the street. The lounge chairs had wonder cushions on them. There was no activities poolside but it was a nice atmosphere and the main pool was warm. They had another pool that was a little cooler and a water slide. The resort is less than 15 minutes from the airport so it was very convenient.…
Flashback to 1999 architecture and style, so dated it felt dirty even though it was clean. Checkout at 10:00am and no budging even with your marriott status. Unhelpful and rude front desk check in. I did not want to believe all of the negative reviewers about this place but I should have. Don’t waste your money and time with this pitiful Marriott, go stay at a newer one with better facilities and staff.
We were not impressed with our overall stay. The pool is terrible in that there are not enough sitting even if there was no pandemic. People would go down early and put their items on the chairs and not come back for hours. Of course nothing was done about it as there were signs stating about not reserving chairs. The front desk was not extremely friendly or helpful. We found out that we could use the pool at the Trump resort across the street only by accident. Ask about things to do or places to eat that they would recommend and they gave us a piece of paper and told us that it listed places.
We were looking for a quiet low key get away that was in warm weather and free from crowds. This met all of our needs. The villas had everything we needed. Very clean and good service. Nice walk to Downtown Doral or Doral City Center for a good meal al fresco. Shuttle service was available on command which was also nice when we didn’t want to walk back from dinner. Very close to airport and golf courses. Free parking was also a bonus as most resorts charge for parking.
We are MVCI owners but booked through marriott.com for this particular stay. We stayed in 2 different buildings. One was definitely nicer than the other. The resort is quiet. It's in an odd location for a MVCI. It reminds me of the old "Horizons by Marriott." The second bedroom has a full size bed and pullout sofa. If the sofa is pulled out the door would have to be closed and you'd only be able to enter from the bathroom. Odd design. 6 of the 7 buildings are built in a north-south orientation so the units are quite dark during the day. Due to CoVid there have been some concessions. Some facilities are closed or are very limited. No problem, we need to be safe. The shower in the master is big but needs a bench/shelf/something to hold shampoo etc. The huge tub and sinks IN the bedroom are a waste of space. Poor, outdated design. I believe there are 148 2 bed/2bath units. That's potentially 800-1000 guests at the resort. The pool had seating "limited for social distancing" to ~30 seats. Even if they had full capacity they could only accommodate a fraction of the guests. The pool is probably the most unimpressive pool I've ever seen at a MVCI. The staff is young and trying very hard but seems to need more training or help. We had 2 separate stays booked. There was confusion at both check ins and check out and both required follow up with the Bonvoy customer service for proper credit of points to our account. We never ate at or had drinks at the pool bar. The woman at the MVCI desk had a difficult time accepting NO. She called so many times it was a bit much. If you need the space the villas provide, it's a safe property. It's convenient to the Miami airport.…
