My husband and I stayed here for Valentines Day weekend 2021 (Fri-Mon). We arrived late Friday night and when we pulled up to check in, I noticed it was very crowded. My husband was walking back and forth from the front desk to the valet station and could not find anyone to help him. After about 20 minutes, my husband asked the valet who was responsible for check-in and found out that the front desk worker was actually outside working the valet station. He informed my husband that he would help him shortly because they were VERY busy. Once we got checked in, we went up to our room. It was very clean and spacious. We did not have a microwave or refrigerator, but the front desk told us we could request a refrigerator. Although we did request one, housekeeping never brought one to our room and our room was only cleaned once throughout the duration of the stay. The ice machines in the hallways were also out of order, so we had to get ice from either the front desk or restaurants within the hotel. This was very inconvenient. The price of valet was $50 per day, which was steep in my opinion because we had to wait at least 30 minutes to an hour every time we needed our vehicle, even if we called ahead. It seemed as if there were not enough valets because the wait time for cars was ridiculous. This may have just been a busy weekend, but I don't think the price of the stay was worth it due to the inconveniences we experienced. …
I travel often to Miami from my job in Mexico City and was excited to try this hotel. The rates here are usually unattainable for my travel at $400 or $500 a night. The rooms are bigger than standard rooms at other hotels (as the pictures show) which is a plus but I am not inclined to stay here again. I have ambassador status with Marriott and I have Hilton diamond status as well. In Miami, I absolutely prefer the Conrad if it’s available at an affordable business rate. I glad I tried it but also happy I did not pay $400 a night. Maybe in a world without COVID this place is great but I guess I will not know. On the negative side, ambassador status usually gets at least an upgrade but my room had an awful view of an office building, no balcony, nothing really special about it. I’m not certain this hotel has rooms with a view or balconies because I’ve never stayed before, but there are great hotels in the area with awesome views that blow this away. In 2020, I had 250 nights with Marriott and spent over $63,000 so that usually warrants a great view at least. The biggest negative is the hotel was drastically understaffed. The front desk had one person at all times and a line waiting to check in or check out. The restaurant was painfully understaffed and we saw a couple people trying to leave without paying their bill. They weren’t attempting to steal but they had places to be and meetings to attend and the the wait staff, who did a great job, was just overwhelmed. The valet section was chaotic as well. The definite bright spot were at least two employees I encountered. Sam worked the bar area alone and was dealing with customers and delivering orders in the evening and then several hours later was waiting tables in the restaurant for breakfast. This kid works his ass off and really needed some back up that was not available. In the valet area, Rober Garcia (I think was a manager) and he was extremely helpful in getting us to restaurants or around the hotel and had our car ready when needed. When he was in the valet area, everything was running smooth and in order. When he was on break or not there, it just seemed like chaos out front. He did a fantastic job.…
I am a frequent guest to the Marriott hotel brand but my experience with JW Marriott Marquis Miami has been a great disappointment. The customer service is non-existent and you have to practically beg them to clean your room. Even after begging to have our room cleaned we were told that if you are staying for a certain amount of days the rooms are cleaned every 3 days. We were only staying 3 nights. When they would not clean our room we requested clean towels and practically had to pull teeth to get the clean towels (no washcloths). What a disappointment!!
The main reason we chose this hotel was it had a pool that was open and a basketball court that was available to rent for a half hour to an hour at a time. Our second day there we were going to use the pool again and use the basketball court for a half hour. When we got there in the morning we were told the pool and basketball court along with the bowling and air hockey rooms were rented out for the day for a private birthday party. Talk about watching your kids day of vacation being shot down with a punch in the gut. Also were told our room had a view of the ocean from our room when we talked to them in person about the reservation and when we get there there is a new condo bing built right out our window blocking the entire view. It’s not like it’s was just built in the 2 weeks prior to our reservation.…
This hotel is quite broken. The rooms have noise, noise and noise. We listened to loud elevators shafts, gurgling/loud A/C systems, street noise and even the neighbors TV. There was no service of the breakfast cafe as it is totally understaffed. The lack of dark blinds in the bathroom of the room we had let light shine in preventing sleep. Hallways are dirty. With Covid the room has no amenities, expect nothing beyonds towels, soap and shampoo. Front desk could not resolve issues. They even billed the wrong credit card, billing was too hard for them to do correctly. If you do not want to sleep, be forced to get breakfast outside of the hotel (even when you have breakfast included) and be let down stay here. For that privilege they will charge you some $29 location fee and $55 to park in addition to your room rate. Not a sound investment and not a soundly done hotel.…
