Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely wonderful people, tasty breakfast and insider knowledge. For the full Irish countryside experience with lovely grandparents taking care of you this is the place to be!
If you have a cap from your country / hometown, bring it over and add it to their collection on the wall. This B&B is especially recommended for Germans.

My boyfriend and I were in Kajon House one night last week, and we have only good words and memories to John and Kate. The house, room, landscape, food and all we found was wonderful. 100% recommend, and hope to return soon!

We stayed in this B&B for a night over the May bank holiday. We have stayed in a lot of hotels but the standard of this B&B exceeded a lot of hotels we stayed in. Much to our delight on booking was that they were happy to welcome our 7 month old puppy. I felt from talking to Kate when booking that she was a warm and lovely person and I was not wrong. When we arrived we were brought to the dining room and were treated to freshly baked scones and lemon cake - delicious. We also then met John, her husband, and Cara, their golden retriever. Suitably refreshed we were shown to our room. It was bright and clean with a double and single bed and our own bathroom and shower. We were out that evening and when we returned the house was quiet and we had a very comfortable night's sleep. Breakfast was the icing on the cake - orange juice, cereal, pancakes, more freshly baked scones and a full Irish! Our puppy was kept amused by Cara and Rambo the tiny dog from next door. Kate and John were constantly in attendance and were very friendly and chatty. We could not have felt more at home. I felt quite sad leaving but I can say for sure that we will definitely return.

We came to this house late on our second night of travelling in Ireland. Kate gave us a very warm welcome and made us feel right at home! Her and her husband were funny, sincere and simply made us smile. The room was clean and cozy with a lovely view of the bog. Breakfast was great and Kate even gave us some scones for our journey the next day! A must stay.

This year I spent my 18th time at Kajon House. But it is not just Kajon House - this is Kate & John - hospitality at it´s best.

Every time returning to them it´s like coming home. It is always the last night on my holidays. It is the greatest place to end the holiday in Ireland. They are incredible.

The two welcomes you as if you be a friend for years even for the first time. The start is homemade scones and cakes with a cup of tea. Followed by a great diner, because of the fantastic cooking by John. Afterwards you relaxe in the guest-lounge.

And the topping is the unforgetable breakfast with bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomato and the best pancakes you can imagine.

If you go to Ireland you have to go to Kajon House. I´m looking forward to see these best hosts you can have again.

Thanks to Kate & John for being part of my life!

Kate and John really welcome you warmly into their home. They are consummate hosts and truly have a passion and love for sharing their home with traveling visitors. They cooked us a delicious dinner and a lovely Irish breakfast. A must-stay for those embarking on a trip to the West of Ireland.

Only had one night here but the hosts were friendly and helpful. Location was very close to Clonmacnoise so it was an easy start in the morning and not to far away was Shannonbridge which was a good spot for dinner

Martin and Noreen went above being hosts in making my wife and I enjoy our 10 day stay. They have knowledge not only about local history but about Ireland’s history. They suggested sites to see outside touristy places which were great. The room was clean and very comfortable. Ask Martin about his boiled egg opener. The breakfast was good and plentiful Thank the two of you for making our vacation better. Ask Noreen about the bogs. Oh yes ask for a porridge smiley face 😊

Kajon House is not far from Shannonbridge, only a few minutes from Clonmacnoise which we planned to visit, and only a couple of hours from Dublin so proved to be an excellent choice for our final stop of a driving tour round the south west of Ireland.
Their website gives excellent directions, the sign at the front gate is clearly visible and there is plenty of off-street parking.
We were welcomed by new owners Noreen and Martin who had only been in residence for a short time and after dealing with luggage we enjoyed tea and cake with them.
We had a very nice ground floor room with expansive views across the garden and the countryside which is surprisingly flat. The room was large with plenty of hanging space. The en-suite bathroom has a walk-in shower. Soap was provided but no other toiletries.
Breakfast was in the large kitchen which again gave us a chance to chat with our hosts. They were most helpful with advice about the best route back into Dublin.
