Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My father has a deep history in the Roscrea area and he looks forward to visiting. My parents have stayed with Ger and Carole at least seven times, and this past summer I was able to join them. It was one of the cleanest and most welcoming B&Bs I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Ger and Carole were warm and welcoming hosts, who made us feel right at home. There are beautiful vistas and so many places to explore in the area. I can't wait to return with my own family.

We actually stayed in the self catering cottage but I couldn't see the page for that on here. We had an amazing time in a wonderfully furnished cottage. Gerard and Carole were very friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. They recommended attractions to see, places to eat, provided wood/peat/charcoal for the outdoor fire and then there is the hot tub! If you want more than a night or two it might be worth checking if the cottage is available, expspecially for families or groups. There are 5 bedrooms sleeping a total of 12 in a mixture of king size, twin and triple (double with single), two lounge spaces and a huge kitchen diner with separate utility. All bedrooms have en suites with jacuzzi baths plus there is a wet room.

We stayed here for one night in August for the Roscrea Music Comes Alive festival. The host made us feel very welcome, made us a lovely pot of tea & gorgeous toasted fruit loaf & buns on our arrival. We could have just boiled the kettle in our room, but she insisted. Then later her husband drove my boyfriend & I to he nearby Racket Hall where the music festival was to save us getting a taxi. Breakfast next morning was delicious too.

I booked this trip through a third party booking agent, I accidently cancelled it and within two minutes I rang the agency and asked them to rebook it, they rang the bed and breakfast straight away and they were informed by the owner that we could not book again and they were charging our card €70. I understand cancellation fees but this was within 2 minutes of cancellation. The booking agency informed me that it was at the owners discretion whether or not to charge us a cancellation fee of €70, when I got off the phone to the booking agency I rang the bed and breakfast directly. The owner informed me that she was going to charge my card and that I was wasting her time. I cannot get over the pure ignorance of this. I run a business and I would never treat my customers like this. Im very unhappy and hope people read this review and decide to give people like this any business

Response from Carole E, Owner at Ballaghmore Country House

Thank you for your recent review. We regret that you were unable to rebook your accommodation with us after cancelling it online as accommodation that weekend was highly sought after. As you are very aware there are no charges pending against your credit card. Hopefully you found alternative accommodation to suite your extra requirements. How "ONE" can cancel an booking accidentally remains a mystery!!!

We stayed overnight before heading to Tullamore Show in Co Offaly the next day. Carol gave us a warm welcome, making tea and toast on our arrival and recommending the Golf Club for dinner (superb meal there).

The room was a double with a single bed (the only one available), well furnished with attention to detail, and spotlessly clean. The en suite was quite small, but the shower had a great jet of water (not a trickle), and let's face it, you don't spend much time in the bathroom!

I didn't use the wifi so can't comment on that, and we'd eaten so much the night before that neither of us could face a cooked breakfast. However there was a good selection of cereals and continental options, and Carol would have made whatever combination of cooked breakfast we wanted.

Definitely would stay again and use as a base for travelling the wider area.

Stayed here for a few nights on business. Very disappointed with lack of wifi reception in the room. Rooms were nice and continental breakfast was nice. Although quoted a specific price on booking the room over phone, there was a debate as to the accuracy of this price on settling the bill, which left a bad taste afterwards.

What a great B&B! My husband and I are touring Ireland and slept in many B&B. We got this one by chance, as we did not have anything booked for the night. A great welcome, chat with the owners, we even had some tea and snack made for us as we arrived later in tne night. Rooms are big and comfortable. And what about the breakfast... The best stuffed croissant ever! I recommend highly this B&B!

My fiancé and I had just visited Ireland for the first time and we stayed at this most beautiful Bed and Breakfast, ballaghmore country house. When we arrive 2 hours before official check in we were greeted with tea and coffee at the door. Carole (the owner) recommended places to visit and places in the area to eat . She was extreamly friendly. The beds were very comfy and we were given fresh towels even though we only stayed two nights. The breakfast was overwhelming. I picked a few things from the continental buffet, which included 6 cereals, brown whole meal bread, fresh fruit, 3 types of juice, cold meats etc. but then realised a number of cooked breakfasts were also available. It was the best cooked food I had in Ireland. I would recommend ballaghmore country house to any person who wants a decent break. Just stunning. They even have their own lake with fishing and while we were there got to whiteness turf cutting which is a big Irish tradition. Love it... I will be back

Stayed here during our trip to Munster Fleadh Cheoil in nearby Nenagh. Stayed in large double room with my wife and daughter. Room was very comfortable and clean. Owner was really welcoming, even though we arrived quite late, she made sure we were comfortable, offering to turn on heating and offering tea/coffee. We slept well in very comfortable beds. After a good nights sleep were were treated to a top class breakfast in a beautiful room. The setting was fab, this large B&B is situated on an organic farm in an accessible location on the main road. Would love to explore more of this beautiful area which is not as high on the tourism radar as other more popular locations. Would definitely stay here again.

Arrived at 4:30pm, was welcomed by Carole who provided us with afternoon tea. I was delighted to find I could have fresh brewed decaf coffee, a real boon as Ireland has not yet cottoned on to decaf coffee.

Parking was available right outside the ground floor side entrance, I had requested an easily accessible room, Room 2 with its walk in shower was perfect for my needs. The bed was extremely comfortable and high enough for me to get in and out of.

Great breakfast with very interesting menu choices, mine was for a stuffed croissant filled with bacon, mushrooms and melted cheese, my son went down the full Irish root and said it was delicious, Again there was lots of decaf coffee.

Carole and her husband Ger were charming, she recommended us to try the local golf club for dinner. The food was excellent and good value. Other guests had their evening meal at the house, they praised Carole's cooking.

The Irish National stud is a forty minute drive away Most enjoyable, we stopped off there on the way to catch an afternoon plane back to Wales

"I think they are all nice! Think there are just 8 or 10 total so I advise to call at least a couple months in advance to reserve one, especially in the summer season."
