Description
The "Queen of the Florida Keys", Cheeca Lodge & Spa has been an exclusive hideaway for celebrities, business leaders and U.S. Presidents for over 70 years. Set on 27 private oceanfront acres in More Islamorada, Cheeca has been constructed with a porte-cochere entrance, traditional Florida Keys architecture, chic West Indies décor, and spirited tradition of “barefoot elegance” -- a term coined at Cheeca. Along with a Coffee Bar & Breakfast Bistro as well as a top-shelf lobby bar, Cheeca boasts three distinctive restaurants: Nikai Sushi Bar and Restaurant offering the Florida Keys’ freshest sushi, Asian-inspired fare and a unique selection of Japanese sake and wine; Atlantic’s Edge, Cheeca’s flagship restaurant offering seasonal fine-dining menu of fresh local seafood, prime steaks and organic local produce; and its brand new family-friendly Mia Cucina restaurant transporting Naples, Italy into the heart of Islamorada serving up made to order artisan pizzas, pastas and salads in a live Less

This was my first trip to the Keys. The Cheeca was lovely from start to finish. Everyone was gracious and kind. The room amenities were excellent. I loved walking the dock and enjoying the birds and sea life. I will be back for sure.

Mike was awesome and served a great dark and stormy. The Cuban sandwich had a nice extra touch with the salami slice. Go see Mike! He’s fun and knows a lot about the region. Also the rebuild of the resort is a great upgrade post hurricane damage. We’ll be back

Visiting in early Decmber: Is the fishing gear that is included with amenities package good quality or should I bring my own? Flying into Miami and prefer to not rent a car, does anyone have advice on getting from airport to resort? Anyone have backcountry fishing guide recommendations?
Hi John T., We just have fishing rods that guests use to fish off the pier, and no tackle so if you are a serious fisherman, I would suggest you bring your own gear. To avoid a rental car, you may use a ride service. Our concierge can arrange one for you if you like. Their direct line is 305.517.4505. The most economical transportation would be Florida Keys Shuttle which is a shared ride service (305) 289-9997. Please let us know if you need any additional information. We look forward to welcoming you to Cheeca.

Is there a lot of seaweed on the beach and a bad smell? Also, is there construction going on? I saw one reviewer speak of these issues. Thanks
Yes there is seaweed but not overwhelming by any means. We did not notice any smell outside your normal “beach smell” in the gulf. They are in the middle of adding a new pool area but no active construction with noises. We hardly noticed it was even there. Overall, great resort.

My Wife and I are looking to stay here next month. Are kayaks, bicycles, etc... included? Any tips on the best location of a king suite room?
Hi drummerboyofjax. Yes kayaks and bicycles are included in our daily resort fee along with many other things. We have over 15 different room types so it depends on your specific needs. The Main Lodge suites are very nice and have a soaking tub on the balcony. I suggest you contact one of our reservations agents at 800.327.2888 to discuss your needs further. We look forward to welcoming you to Cheeca.

Does anyone have recent photos of the beach? I am looking to visit from Miami, FL, so I am well aware of the massive seaweed problem our state is having. I'm just trying to compare if the seaweed is better or worse than it is at home and worth it to make the drive down the keys.
Hi Kate. I suggest you visit our website and look at our webcam (under the resort button) for the latest conditions. The seaweed varies in different locations and times as you know. We hope to see you soon!
