Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel was friendly and relaxing and the food very good. Beds were comfortable. It was the perfect location for hearing and seeing the corncrakes, which was the point of our visit. It was a great experience all round and would thoroughly recommend it for bird-watchers and non bird-watchers alike.

What an amazing place Tory is. So beautiful and welcoming. The staff at the hotel couldn't do enough for us for my husbands 60th birthday. The hotel is right as you come off the ferry and the rooms were just right for our group. The food was brilliant and the bar stays open as long as needed..... The walks on the island are just stunning and I think we got to know at least half the island when we were there. Will definitely go back.

Hotel was clean but needs a bit of an update. Check in was difficult as we were told it was at 12 noon but the rooms were not ready until 2pm and when we returned for check in at 2pm it proved to be difficult with the staff walking past us rather than check us in, a little disappointing to be honest. The bedrooms are basic but adequate with a decent bathroom although shower is a bit poor and it needs a new shower curtain. The food was very good and reasonable too including breakfast which was excellant. We stayed overnight and the people on the island were very friendly. The views were fab but you need to be a walker to get to the best parts. Very peaceful and quite for a relaxing overnight. There is very little to do on the Island itself. The ferry to the Island is about 50minutes and although we had a nice journey it could be rough in bad weather.

The staff were friendly. Hotel was very cold and there was no heating anywhere in the hotel even though the weather was very unseasonably cold and wet. The room we had was tired looking and needed a revamp. The new owners who have recently taken over might like to update the room at some point. I think breakfast could have included beans tomatoes and mushrooms. 1 each of bacon sausage egg and black/white pudding looked lost on plate. 4 slices of toast between 3 when 1 person only had toast but had paid for a full breakfast was a little mean. Did ask for more toast which was brought over. 1 more slice each. However I do have to say that although cold and having to wear coats in dining hall, the fish and chips were the best I have ever had anywhere! Just wish the hotel had a warm welcome when we arrived on a cold wet day, and the breakfast could be improved. I wish the new owners a successful future and that my comments are taken as positive criticism in moving forward.

Friendly welcome. Reasonable selection of food for lunch & dinner. Our room was on the ground floor — shower worked well. Loved the bar and the very friendly locals. The hotel is next to the ferry and has lovely harbour views — something to do with a house that disappeared !!

From the minute we arrived we felt like regulars. Mary and her super friendly team warmed us after our ferry ride with hot tea and a roaring fire and from that moment on until we hit the mainland again we completely switched off from all the every day stressors. The room was perfect, the food and the ambience were delightful and we were free to entertain ourselves with the scenic delights of such an incredibly beautiful island. We honestly cannot find one thing not to like about our stay and will most certainly be planning a return visit later this year. Thank you to Mary and to the whole team. Had a wonderful time on Tory Island and our time there was made all the more enjoyable by the homely, down to earth welcome we got by the manager and team at this hotel. There were a number of lovely gestures displaying the kindness and humanity that is seldom evident at your mainstream hotels. Great traditional Irish music and popular songs on the Saturday night in front of a roaring fire. Hope to make a return visit next year.

We stayed at the Tory Island Hotel for 2 nights and we’re treated to comfortable rooms, beautiful home-cooked food, and an exceptional level of customer service that you rarely come across. The landlady really went the extra mile to ensure we had an excellent stay on Tory. Amazing! Thank you very much for having us and we will definitely visit again!

We got of the boat and could check in straight away. The hotel is nice. It is more like a B&B. Nevertheless it is cosy. The food was delicious and the staff were lovely. We really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend Tory Island and a sleep over here.

We stayed here for an overnight, checked in when we got off the ferry, had lunch which was lovely, ordered tea, still waiting on it, went sightseeing, beautiful place and scenery, had a beautiful meal that evening, went up to the club for a while, came back around 11pm, there was a sing song on which went on till 3,45 am, got very little sleep, had a beautiful breakfast in the morning, was really looking forward to a nice shower, water was cold,, would have liked to wash my hair but i just wasn't brave enough, mentioned about the loud singing into the wee small hours and also mentioned about the cold water, lady at desk apologised for both and she did mention she previously had a complaint from other guests about the loud music, i just felt the customer care was very much lacking here,
