Travellers' Choice
The Shandon hotel & spa overlooks the breathtakingly beautiful Sheephaven Bay and is located on the Wild Atlantic Way Route being just a short drive from Dunfanaghy and Horn Head. This reasonably new Donegal Hotel is probably one of very few hotels that can say that almost every bedroom has a spectacular view of the sea, the lobby, bar, swimming pool, thermal spa, relaxation room & outdoor Canadian hot-tub all, overlook the beautiful bay, hills & countryside.

From the moment we arrived in reception, every member of staff was extremely friendly and professional. The downstairs lounge has been refurbished since our last visit and is very comfortable, modern and spotlessly clean. Our bedrooms were on the fourth floor with the beautiful view of the beach. Again spotless and very comfortable. We ate in the bar on the Friday night. Food was lovely, very food choice and again the staff could not do enough for us . Had a window table so my parents loved looking out at the beautiful views again. Breakfast next morning was excellent, despite covid the staff were extremely organised and efficient and we were quickly served. In the evening we enjoyed the Marbles restaurant upstairs which is more formal but not stuffy at all. Very nice setting and again very friendly staff. Food was good and we enjoyed the experience. Love everything about this hotel from the beautiful setting, spotlessly clean and modern furnishings, good food but it is the staff who make us want to return. They are a young staff but all very good at their jobs and made us feel special.

Myself and two friends needed a good catch up after lockdown and we couldn’t have booked a better place! We booked the love to spa package which gave us 3.( hrs spa time bed breakfast and dinner. Everything was exceptional from the service in the spa to the hotel, the room the food and the drinks! And the view never gets dull even when the sun isn’t shining! It is priceless. The best addition since we were there last was marbles restaurant where we had our evening meal. It was the one thing the Shandon was missing before and it was fabulous. Our only complaint was that 1 night wasn’t long enough. Can’t wait to return. Keep up the great work Shandon.

I have just had an amazing few days in the Shandon Hotel in Portnablagh..Besides the amazing views from the hotel, the hotel staff and the quality of the rooms are excellent. We ate in the marbles restaurant on both nights and the food was to a very high standard. I cannot wait to make a repeat visit in the not so distant future.
