Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

At the Hilton Garden Inn Daytona Beach Oceanfront, guests have consistently commended the spotless rooms and well-kept facilities, a testament to its rigorous housekeeping standards. Despite this, opinions diverge when it comes to value; a number of guests feel the costs outweigh the benefits, particularly due to unexpected fees. Room quality varies, with some visitors praising their cleanliness and comfort, while others report maintenance concerns. Service quality also receives mixed reviews, with instances of both professionalism and unfriendliness noted. The hotel's prime location garners approval, being conveniently close to the beach and local amenities, though some have mentioned it requires repairs. Amenities have their ups and downs, with criticisms centered on construction disruptions and a non-operational pool bar, yet some guests still highlight the enjoyable food and location.

This hotel has always been our go to. We stay here several times a year. Staff is always friendly and welcoming, with that said, this will be our last stay.
Rooms looking run down and dirty. Room was not as clean as it could of been, chairs and table on the balcony were dirty, the floor hadn’t been swept covered in ashes and sand, the jacuzzi was cloudy and dirty, pool was full of sand, and the clientele at this hotel is a bit to be desired. several people that were not staying at the hotel were taking up already limited parking, using the pool and the hotel beach access. We paid to be guests and have beach and pool access, there should have been someone monitoring this at the pool entrance.
Pool area is over crowded, not enough seating, no security to look over the pool area, glass bottles, cups, straws all over the pool deck. Which all ends up in the ocean!!

We booked breakfast with our stay, it is normally a large breakfast buffet with plenty to chose from. This time it was a small menu, not vegetarian friendly at all. I’m sure this was due to the CDC guidelines which is completely understandable , but it should have been better lined out when I made my reservation, if it was I would have not spend the xtra money on breakfast, that I could not eat. When I tried to order breakfast, they refused to do anything to accommodate what I could eat, one person taking orders, she was completely overwhelmed and in need some help. Stood in line for 25 minutes just to order. So I paid for 2 people to eat and only one of us could eat, money down the drain!

What we paid to stay there was definitely not money well spend this time! Housekeeping needs to step it up, and the kitchen needs to think about guests who don’t eat meat, or try to accommodate and not give an attitude. It is a shame, this was our favorite hotel in Daytona. We won’t be back.

I have stayed at this location twice now and I am always greeted with a smile. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself is located right on the beach and has rooms that overlook the ocean with small balconies that you can sit out enjoy the view. I have always been there in February before the crowds come and the room rates for the location and quality accommodations are very reasonable. I will stay there again on my next visit.

Although my room and my stay were mainly comfortable, there were a few other issues that caused this particular stay to not be the best that it could have been. The floor my wife and my daughter and I stayed on (7th Floor) did not have working A/C in the hallways. The vents blew out constant hot air and the hallways were stifling and very hot. During our entire 3 day stay, while traversing the hallway to the elevators, or whenever standing/sitting on our balcony, there was a constant smell of smoke and illicit drug use. Loud music from these same balconies also permeated the air and through the walls. I informed the manager of this once I noticed the smell of marijuana very strongly in the hallway of the 7th floor. Management placed notices on each door, and he asked if I thought I may know which room the smell may be coming from. I informed him that it was too hard to tell due to the heat and mugginess of the 7th floor hallway to pinpoint which direction of the hallway the smell was coming from. My understanding was that I was staying in a completely "Smoke Free" Hilton establishment. Be it marijuana smoke or regular tobacco smoke, my wife, young daughter and I should have not had to smell nor breathe it during our entire stay there. It was truly humbling to try to describe and explain to my daughter what the "funny smell" was that she had to endure the whole time, and even more so humbling, explain the fact that it is an illegal substance in the State of Florida. My wife and I are always very honest and direct with our daughter on all matters and we don't sugar-coat reality to her. It is more overly disconcerting that this issue may not be being addressed properly at that facility level, but issues like that should have zero tolerance, and I hope they found the tenant(s) responsible and that the issue was addressed more sternly then just having a piece of paper taped to all the doors reminding everyone of the Hotel's smoking policies when that same policy notification is already placarded throughout the building and in each one of the guest rooms.
We enjoyed the cleanliness of the room and the social distancing exhibited by the staff and we understood why some things cannot be done during our stay where as they could before the pandemic. The limitations brought on by the pandemic were mainly lack of supplies, self-service for most tasks or needs. Our country has never experience any thing like this in recent years, so I think we are all learning from this and we all take something away from it in our own ways.
I have written this entire review directly to the Hilton survey panel that was sent to me shortly after our stay, but I have not heard anything from it or respond a response since. It is now August 8th and we stayed at the hotel during the weekend of July 9th through July 12th.
As a Hilton Honor member, I value and appreciate the opportunities that are presented to my family and I through the Hilton Honors program and I always prefer to stay at a Hilton, but we may have to choose otherwise when traveling to Ormond or Daytona Beach.

We checked in for two nights. I soon realized this was the worst shape of any Hilton facility we have booked. The adjustable room AC vents blew air directly onto beds. The desk lamp was missing a nut to tighten adjustable arm for light disbursement. One of the closet doors' handle was not securely attached and appeared to have been that way awhile. These problems were reported to the female receptionist the next morning at breakfast (no name tag displayed) and she kept politely apologizing in a standard response saying she would report it to maintenance, and took a piece of paper as if to write it down (no one ever showed to make corrections while we were there.. The Fitness Center had no sanitizing wipes or towels, and the water dispenser did not have cooled water with water tray full - the center gave the appearance that it had not been thoroughly cleaned lately.

Breakfast was outstanding & Tiffany, our breakfast server (with Chef Mike). Our ocean view balcony room was well worth the upcharge & featured great view from 3rd floor. It was shaded in the afternoons allowing for better cooling with ocean breeze.

The design of the building was admirable but way past time for renovations and maintenance. My concern was with the cleaning staff and/or ignoring items needing simple repair, then how do we know the hotel was taking positive steps to sanitize as advertised? Especially with all of the sanitizing agent dispensers being empty!

We love a good Hilton Garden Inn!

I'll start with the good: beautiful oceanfront view. Room was clean; common areas were lovely; great staff (esp. Murray and Kathy); good bar/restaurant; close to shopping/restaurants; in-room coffee, micro, fridge, safe.

Now the bad: we reserved king, ocean front balcony room well in advance. I checked in via mobile device earlier in the day, but when we arrived (rather late) they said our room had "maintenance" issues and we would need to stay in an ocean front 2-queen room. Super front-desk guy (Murray) very kindly offered to adjust the rate and give us free breakfast for the inconvenience. It was late and we were tired so we agreed (but certainly were not happy).

The air conditioning was terribly uncomfortable (either too hot or too cold and blew right on the bed so it was miserable). Beds and pillows were not comfortable. There was a strange smell in the room (couldn't tell what it was but couldn't get rid of it either.) Bottom line is it's a great place, but the rooms need a complete overhaul (fresh paint, carpet, beds, and especially air conditioning) and THEN it would be perfect.

The main thing I want to point out was that there was NEVER any towels. Pool towels or bathing towels. I felt like the staff was really put out by me simply asking! The front desk told me to call every hour...Finally I did receive 2 towels that evening. after being at the beach and pool all day, I was thankful! My family who was also staying there, other rooms were worried we were not going to be able to go to dinner because of this.

The breakfast was good. However, they only had one person taking the orders, getting drinks and packing up the orders, very long lines! I get it that it was a Holiday. Be prepared for that. I felt bad for her!

I was not told that we would not be getting our room serviced. I actually had to go to the front desk to get toilet paper. Of course when you are ordering in, you have trash. The experience was not pleasant at all.

The pool! They really need to invest in hotel scans on the gates! The pool was so overcrowded. I spoke to a lady who wasn't staying there but had her family swimming to cool off and get a drink! The hot tub looked dirty, so I didn't go in. Also, I was bit by ants setting on the side of the pool....One good thing, the older gentleman that worked these was very sweet and nice, tying to keep the place cleaned up and spraying down the area and picking up trash!

The quest bathrooms was dirty. I walked in and walked out. I went to my room instead.

As a Hilton member, I was shocked at the service, the unprofessional front desk responses to my simple requests.

I will NOT be returning. This is second bad review since 2009.

We arrived and check in was seamless. Our room was on the 3rd floor with a king bed and a balcony. The room was clean. There is no maid service at this time due to the virus. This was fine with us as we brought our own pillows and blankets. The room had a half fridge, microwave, and a keurig coffee maker. The first night the hotel was quiet and we slept well. The second night some guests came in late about 2am and proceeded to have a loud argument in the hallway. The next morning when my hubby went to run a load of our luggage to the car someone had vomited all down the hallway. It was dry by then and when he approached the front desk they acted like it happens all the time. Overall, the location is good the hotel is across the street from a Publix grocery store, a Denny's and Marshalls and a number of other stores. The hotel looks ok but you can tell it gets beat up by guests.frequently. My main complaint is that no one not the guests or the staff wore a mask or gloves. Yes, there was a piece of plexiglass at the check in but again no staff at any time that I saw wore a mask. People I felt looked at us like we were the weirdos with our masks on. If you have health problems, and dont want to get the virus you may want to stay elsewhere.

We returned to this property after being away for about two years. I realize that the pandemic has taken its toll on service in most locations, so some things changed while others remained the same.

The same: Clean rooms with decent shower pressure and direct access to the beach. Gorgeous views from the top floor balcony room that we had! The breakfast was delicious in the hotel. I also made use of the laundry facility and the business center while I was there.

The changes: The thing that stood out to us before was the great service- and this was while Hurricane Dorian preparations were underway! Again, I realize that staff shortages are a thing now. But after staying here for a week, the restaurant was closed for dinner the entire time with the exception of Saturday night. That meant no access to dinner and it also meant no access to a bar at the hotel. There was also a severe shortage of washcloths and they were being rationed out. I overheard discussions of other items that were in short supply as well that guests were asking for. Was this a result of the pandemic? I’m not sure. But it is the situation we found ourselves in for a week. Housekeeping is again available, but they cannot enter the room while anyone else is present. And they come late in the afternoons sometimes while you are there, therefore you don’t get any service that day. We did point out the fact that we did not have a trashcan in our living space to housekeeping, but no one ever brought us one during our stay. We also had quite a bit of trash that we had to dispose of ourselves.

These are not deal breakers. I am just comparing them to the stay that I had previously. I would certainly give it another shot after they have had time to completely recover from the pandemic.

Filthy. Terrible staff.
The name Hilton used to mean something; it doesn’t here. The staff is not professional nor pleasant.
When checking in, it would be nice to be greeted by staff who is freshly showered, appropriately groomed and pleasant. This not being the case should’ve been an indicator to cancel the reservation. There’s actually a sand pail on the counter warning of a $10 fine if the hang tag for parking is unreturned. I find this incredibly tacky and unbecoming for this brand. The desk attendant was dressed more appropriately for a brothel instead of a family hotel. When checking out pool towels, a placard accompanies stating a $15 charge per towel would be charged if towels are not returned. (Hilton?) As for the room, I’m not sure when it was last thoroughly cleaned. The carpet was disgusting having stains scattered about and not appearing to have even been vacuumed. There was mold/mildew on the ceiling and wallpaper, a dead gnat stuck to the ceiling above the bathroom mirror, the shower curtain wasn’t appropriately attached/buttoned on backward in places. (How does one even do that?) The beds were so uncomfortable. I can’t stress this enough. Also-exposed box springs. It seemed so Econolodge. The elevators were being worked on everyday. The room keys always needed replaced because they wouldn’t work. The hot tub was grungy. Pool area uncleaned.
The place is just bad. We left and went to the Hampton at 1024 and cannot say enough good things about them.
Hilton really should do something with this dump to protect their name.

We went in March and the entire pool area was closed. I can’t speak for the beach area but there’s a lot of work being done in this vicinity and I wouldn’t recommend going there at this time. There are plenty of other nice hotels and beaches in Florida that weren’t impacted by the storm. Not to mention, this isn’t your typical Hilton. It was dirty and nasty.
