We've stayed here for the past 7years. The resort needs to step it up on basic things as we can see competition being built next door. Rooms dirty, bathroom dirty, beds horrible. No daily suite service, no one came to take trash or ANYTHING. We had a half a roll of tissue when we checked in. The simplest things can make or break you in hospitality. Fix BASIC things you WILL have happy guest, Simple.

We booked this resort for a wedding we attended. The location is beautiful right on the beach the pool was big and went 10 feet deep which was nice the pool toys and towels were free. but the quality and decor of the rooms were not great. Everything was clean but walls were peeling and we paid extra for a kitchen no utensils provided or pans, plates our ocean view in room 337 was blocked by a huge structure and all the rooms were angled into our so there was 0 privacy like you cant leave your blind open or everyone can see in in the are on your balcony. I would stay here again but I wouldn't upgrade my room it wasn't worth it and I wouldn't get the massage it was way over priced for the quality. but overall we had a great stay we used the fire outside at night and walked the beach it was beautiful and clean.

This hotel is beautiful. This hotel is also very very old. The employees although overworked are sweet, and very professional. I arrived on Wednesday not too many people checking in, but system was down it took forever. Although as I told them it wasn’t a problem. I went to the 8th fl. OMGOODNESS! Elevator smelled of pot. Room was moldy smell, cigarettes smell. View was of a dirty moldy roof. I had my room changed to the 6 fl. I was shocked. It was like I entered a different hotel. Clean fresh smelling. The rugs are old and nasty, but the bedding and everything else was great. Very clean. The hotel needs a total update, but the employees made our stay a pleasure. Except for a miserable young blonde that worked at the bar at the pool. Although she was over worked. She was awful. Everyone else at that bar was so pleasant. Frozen drinks were weak, Food at the bar was pure salt. We ate twice. Horribly salty.
In the evening at the bar in the lobby was amazing, live music, bartenders could not have been nicer, kinder or more professional. She and Jordan at the front desk were a breath of fresh air. Staff at the pool were so helpful with asking if we needed the umbrella open, and making sure there were no puddles when it rained. I stayed four days, and that was enough. For the area the hotel was one of the better hotels.

The hotel was nice, the housekeeping was AWFUL I reserved a room with a Jacuzzi that I really wanted to use its was dirty and had hair in it, I was told someone was coming to clean it that NEVER happened so getting that room was a waste of time. I called the front desk SEVERAL times to get the status of someone coming to clean the tub only to get no answer until the next day which was my checkout day. When I did speak with the manager I was told that they should have moved me to another room well I wasn't even given that option. The service received was one I've never experienced especially when paying the amount of money I paid to stay this should have never even been a problem. Since I had to use the shower it was no better the shower floor was dirty and the water was cold, no matter how hot I turned the knob to the water stayed cold. Glad I had my shower shoes!!!! I wouldn't return.

Completely disappointed. Will not recommend and will not be staying again.
We booked a room at the Plaza for Father's day weekend and besides the pleasant nature of the staff, we were extremely disappointed with the entire stay. Upon arriving, we waited over 30 minutes to just check into the room. We tried to be understanding with the COVID guidelines in place, but after waiting and listening, there was no reason for the check in to take so long with only two couples checking in ahead of us and two check in lanes. Once we arrived at the counter, it took maybe 5-6 minutes to get us checked in and on our way??
We paid extra for an ocean view room and were given a room with a view of the parking lot. But, because you could lean around the balcony and sea the ocean, it was considered ocean view? Not worth the extra cost.
We were given 2 full sized towels for 4 people for 2 days...
We visited the 1888 hotel restaurant for breakfast on Fathers day morning for the convenience, which ended up being a terrible decision. The service was not only incredibly slow, but the order was completely wrong and the food was cold by the time it was brought out. Our waitress was extremely pleasant, but the service was unacceptable. We were seated before 3 other families...who ALL received their food and drinks before our table of 4. It appeared our waitress took a break for a extended period of time immediately after she took our order. We could actually see our food sitting in the window for over 10 minutes before she reappeared. It then took another 10 minutes to get the check and ANOTHER 10 minutes for her to return with the paid bill. The entire experience was an hour and 45 minutes...
The saving grace for our vacation was that pool and pool staff were great! Very friendly, great service and the food at the pool was incredible! Gotta hand it to the staff. They were running all over the pool deck with food and drink orders WITH masks on, and they were still extremely kind and on point. Definitely made the day by the water a lot easier. However, this resort needs a bigger pool for such a large hotel. Every single seat was taken and the pool was crowded to the point where it was hard to swim. We had to leave our items in the grass since all the chairs on the lower and upper deck were full.

Thank you for your candid review. Our guest ambassadors are available 24-hours a day and are here to address a myriad of guest concerns to make your stay a memorable one. If you ever have any concerns please let them know and they will take efforts to address them so that your stay is filled with only fun and positive memories. With the number rising daily of new covid-19 cases, we have taken this pandemic very seriously for the safety of our staff and our guests. Everything that you may come in contact with is heavily sanitized, this includes the iPad's and Credit Card terminals at check-in. I am please to hear we were able to check you into your room in under 7 minutes but please note during Father's Day weekend we had many family's that were checking in multiple rooms which does require some more time. Our staff always try to work as efficiently as possible under the sanitation practices in place for Covid. As an industry, hoteliers have stopped stay-over room serving, however we are always available to exchange your towels and bring fresh ones. This is something that we go over with guests at the time of check-in, we state it in our welcome letters, and provide an additional reminder that "should you need anything please call our front desk" which is placed on letter on your bed. I am displeased to hear that you did not utilize our services to change your towels during your two day stay. We are always here to help! We appreciate your business especially during this pandemic, and hope that you visit us again,

Room was supposed to be ready at 4 pm. We had two small children and we were able to access the room from 10:20 pm- 11:00pm. During our entire stay it was hard to communicate with guest services or housekeeping. No one was answering the phones. Several guests were seen at the front desk upset about it. We kept being told that they were busy. Our room needed fresh towels and two extra pillows (pillows never made it) I called early to get our room serviced and was told that they could get to our room as early as 3:00pm. No one came. So we had to walk to front desk to request towels which were left hanging on our door. We also ran out of toilet paper. No one was answering again so my husband again had to walk to front desk again. They said they would bring it. No one came. He has to return for a second time to front desk to request it. I had to run to the public bathroom down the hall to get wads of toilet paper to supply our room. The last night we wanted to order room service. They kept transferring us to the restaurant and no one would answer. Their suggestion was for us to come down and eat because they were busy. It was annoying. Our sliding door also was warped and opening it to get to the pool was insane. Michelle the manager at the spa was amazing. Very accommodating. We were fed up with everything and ended up leaving early.

First day and first time at this hotel. Day of arrival we were welcomed by the strong smell of illegal substance. After spending a few minutes in our room and on the balcony, we had to ask for a change of rooms. We paid extra for a beach view, and we had a small view of the beach, a huge view of the construction next door, and then the huge smell of pot that was so strong, and it was totally inappropriate for my young daughter. This hotel is great if your stay is to drink, lounge on the beach, smoke illegal substances and if you are staying with people that just want to party. I did not feel safe with my 13 year old daughter in this hotel. After we changed rooms, our next room had bird crap all over the chairs, tables, balcony and the window was so dirty we had to ask someone to come and clean it. The rooms are so old and after the 2nd night in our room, we saw something just under the dresser, i used my shoe to see what it was, several pieces of chicken nuggets were under the dresser. Roaches in hallway, and the smell of pot was throughout the hotel. Again, this is an ok hotel if you want to party, and don’t care where you sleep at night. But never again for us and no Daytona vacation for us in the future.
I do want to say Ester at the front desk and the employee that came to room to clean off balcony was very nice, very apologetic and friendly. And the front desk staff. Henry Potter and the new employee that checked us in on Friday. Very friendly and apologetic.

We stayed at the hotel 4/21 and will never go back. I tried to speak with a manager twice during my stay but was told both times that there was not a manager on duty. It was during the day within business hours.
I tried to contact a manager via the website's Contact Us section and received no response. I emailed the manager directly and received no response. So shop around and do not stay in this hotel.
First let me say that all of the employees I encountered were friendly, helpful and courteous. It was the condition of the rooms and hotel that I had issues with. Our room was dirty. The carpet looked like it had not been vacuumed, dust everywhere, red sticky residue on the table, dried stains down the side of the table, wobbly toilet, ran out of toilet paper, refrigerator gasket flopping around, service elevator dinging all hours of the night and absolutely NO enforcement of the mask rule. Speaking with other guests they had many of the same issues and even a room change didn't show any improvement.
Then upon checkout, our bill was a mess. We were charged for parking daily when we had no car. We informed the front desk upon arrival and were assured it would be taken care of but it was not. We were charged a different rate each night and the person at the desk said the rates change hourly. Really?
The pool area was sloppy as well. There was debris floating in the pool and stained, dirty lounge chairs.
We also utilized the spa and felt things could be better maintained there as well.
Needless to say I feel ripped off. I had expected so much more from this stay, instead I couldn't wait to go home. That had never happened to me on vacation before.

This was our third time at the plaza
All three times we have had a problem with our reservation, at no fault of the hotel. All three times we received help from the best guest services representative I have ever dealt with. Cora has always without fail solved every issue. All three times she could have easily said there was nothing she could do, which has happened at other hotels in the area but instead she solved our issues with ease. I would also like to recognize Esther and Keith at the front desk they were also extremely helpful. It is more expensive to make the reservations with the hotel than a third party online but the customer service at the hotel is unprecedented. The hotel is also walking distance to main Street and a great diner for breakfast

We stayed here for 2 days on our 7-day motorcycle trip up the Florida East Coast.
Before I start, let me say that the bartenders in the Lobby Lounge were extremely nice and very good at making us feel welcome. The rest of the place, not so much.
When we arrived, our AC unit did not work. A staff member fixed it in about 30 minutes. The light in the bathroom constantly flickered, the light on the patio didn't work at all, and the patio chair was broken. Housekeeping did not replenish the coffee items or the shampoo (packing light on a motorcycle, we count on these items). We also used the laundry facilities (2 washers, 2 dryers), and one dryer was broken. With other families doing laundry, it took us HOURS to get laundry done. To top it off, the morning that we left a roach came out of the closet. Absolutely unacceptable!
I mentioned all of this to the front desk staff as we were leaving, and they said they would comp our bar bar bill. We never received our "emailed" billing/receipt, but according to my bank we were charged for everything.
Will NOT return.
