We had to go to Daytona in September for a funeral and wanted a comfortable place to stay. Even though they had been through a hurricane, the Cove Motel had already cleaned up. I got an oceanfront room at an exceptionally reasonable price. I we unexpectedly surprised. I chose the Cove after reading other descriptions and also on price as our trip was unbudgeted. I buy a motel room first for a good night's sleep. The Cove Motel had really good mattresses. The room was spotless. Had a mildew smell from the storm but I was advised of that and chose this room instead of a non oceanfront anyway. It was fine. For the price you can't find a better place.

We arrived at the Cove Motel at 12 pm very tired from driving and VERY hot (because it was July 23rd). We were all so excited about our oceanfront room where we could relax and have a beautiful view of the ocean. My mother went to the check in desk, knowing that we were early, but just to let the motel know that we were there, and to see if it was possible to check in a little early. When the lady gave my mother the key it was for an "Ocean view" room on the first floor, when we had already paid for an "Ocean front " room, on the third floor. She told us that there was a mistake, so my mother went out to the car and found our reservation slip, clearly stating that we had booked an ocean front room (room 302). She claimed that "someone" had double booked the room, so the only option we had was to take room 108 which was practicly in the parking lot, with a car view!!!! We looked past that "mix-up" and said that we wouldn't let that ruin our holiday! When it was time to cook supper 2 of the 4 very small burners on the oven did not work! When the man came to fix it, he said, "you don't expect to cook a meal on that stove do you??" This really got to me because the whole point of booking a "kitchenette" is so you can cook meals??? Again, we looked past that remark. We decided to phone home to let our family know that we were in Daytona Beach safely. But, we couldn't phone out of our room!!!!!! And check out time, a week later we were charged for trying to phone out??!!!?? All in all it was a nice place, but first impressions are lasting impressions, this was my first visit to the Cove, my 15th visit to Daytona Beach, and probley my last visit to the cove, but definitly NOT my last visit to the beautifullest beach on earth!

The rooms are great, large with 3/4 refrigerator and small stove. The building itself is old and in need of some sprucing up. The ocean is withing view, and there is a nicely heated small pool. Most disturbingly, a motel employee walked in on me without knocking!!

Whe we arrived we were told that our reservation thru Trip Advisor was for a non view room since they could not see anything on "computer" as to what type of room we had reserved. According to Trip Advisor it was a king room, described as...with ocean view and sounds of crashing waves in our room. I dont understand why this miscommunication between motel and Trip Advisor. We were offered a room with ocean view upgrade at twice + our reservation rate, because it was race week, ora refund for deposit. We paid the difference because of time constraints and wanting to rest after long trip. Then we were told that no a/c was availabe because of issues but heater was on and were offered a fan that was delivered to room. Bathrooms were clean but stove had years of grease on knobs and between cabinets and stove. This is a very old hotel that needs major work done in all areas. I should have paid more attention to other reviews. *However,the staff was friendly.

We apologize for the many issues you experienced during your stay. As far as the miscommunication, we are able to make reservations with the information supplied. We are glad we were able to upgrade you. As far as our HVAC, we have a boiler/chilling tower system. Which means that we can not run the A/C and the heater systems at the same time. We usually wait to do servicing or repairs for when the outside-temperature allows. Thank you for your informative, honest feedback. Also, the Housekeeping issues have been addressed.

This place's review is 'family friendly' is a joke! We arrived the other day to trucks crusing around all over the blvd. with tons of noise, horns, revving of engines, etc. along with trying to avoid broken glass and trash all over the sidewalks in front of various businesses.
After getting some Lunch we walked on the beach to come back here to check in nearly getting run over by trucks, repeatedly!
When arriving to our room the loud music from all directions around our room did not stop until around three the next morning. This hotel's staff does not care about you getting any kind of sleep during your trip!!!
To go along with the crusing noise resounding throughout the hotel's walls, etc., you had to listen to an A/C in the room that sounded as if you were in a jet engine testing facility! Thankfully, that drounded out the noise of the ongoing partiers that sorrounded us along with the truck horns that sounded like train horns crusing all night into the next morning.
We only received around two hours of sleep and left extremely early in the morning to get ahead of the drunk drivers surely to get up for Breakfast sometime that morning to just start being inhuman and inconsiderate all over again!
If I were the Chamber of Commerce or the Mayor of Daytona Beach I would be extremely apologetic to any family that tried to come here over the Labor Day weekend for a relaxing family vacation that ended up being a TOTAL FAILURE ruining the entire weekend for everyone!!!

Dear Sheldon, Thank you for the review. Our hotel is family friendly. I am not the Mayor, but let me extend our invitation to you to give us another try to make you happy with our hotel. We welcome reviews, because it gives us the opportunity to improve. Daytona Beach during Labor day weekend is very busy, add the biggest lifted Truck meet and the town was overwhelmed. In your review on booking.com you said you liked the cleanliness and our hotel staff. Looks like you liked our hotel, but didn't like the town, we have no control over the town and in the towns defense they had no control over the large truck crowd. The Lifted Truck show was a non authorized event. If I may quote the Police Chief Craig Capri, "The City is not Sanctioning the event." You said our staff doesn't care about our guests getting sleep, our staff stayed on property all weekend. Guests at our hotel were quiet at 2200 hrs. We have no control over the street traffic especially trucks that are intentionally trying to make loud noise. The A/C is a completely new system and is running correctly. In closing let me extend you my invitation again to visit Cove Motel. Thank you, Management

Great place to stay for an affordable price and wonderful beach view and access. It’s an older motel, but they do their best to keep it clean and I was more impressed than I expected given it’s age. I’d definitely stay here again !!! There is a Publix, Dollar Tree, Seafood restaurant and Bealls all in a shopping plaza about a mile down the strip. We cooked twice and that really saved us money especially with COVID we are trying to cut down on eating out. Y’all have to try Bethune Grill .. honey wings are out of sight. It was quiet at night everyone rested since a lot of family’s were there with kids so it was peaceful and quiet for a Saturday night.

Perfect location directly on the beach. Kevin at the front desk was always super helpful up to and during my stay. He gave wonderful suggestions for places to eat. We would've had NO idea that we could walk right next door to the other hotel and eat breakfast or lunch in their little cafe for a very reasonable price. The Cove doesn't provide breakfast but has a full kitchen set up with everything except the food to prepare meals. The pool was so relaxing - there is no hot tub - but that's ok. There's 2 charcoal grills for anyone's use also. I will definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful time. The Cove offers easy access to the beach, a heated pool, and there was hardly anyone around during our stay. We had the beach to ourselves! We made 1 quick trip to the Publix right down the road to grab some groceries and cooked in the room to save money. We had a wonderful time!

Disappointed to say the least. Overall feeling of the place is not good. Smell in the room that didn't really get rid of even with sliding doors open and ocean wind blowing in. Shower flow so slow. Shower curtain is about 3 feet too long so stepping on it in shower. Just never felt comfortable in the room. Big cockroach by my door in the morning. Left after first night, couldn't imagine sleeping there another night. Only good thing is location on the beach.

About 1 mile. You can walk to it, but its pretty far. I like the trolly buses. $1.00 takes you one way off and on. When you change directions its another dollar. So if you go south a buck and back north its a buck.. best deal you will get in Daytona.. Have fun
