This has got to be the worst room I have ever stayed at. First it should have been remodeled in the 70s, the decor is extremely old and the furnishings are old and very worn. There is water damage stains on the ceiling, The corners of the room are dirty and stained. The tub and the tub walls were peeling paint. The shower had so little pressure there was no way to shower (see photos). I was allowed in another room to shower and the shower there was no better. When you walked past the other rooms you see the large windows cracked and roof shingles missing. When we tried to go to sleep and the 50+ year olds in the band that was playing in the patio bar was feebly and off key trying to sing Led Zepplin's Immigrant Song. Not sounds that promote sleep. traveled Sept 2019.

When the booking said "construction", we naturally assumed noise and dust. What it should have said is "we are a very old hotel that's being torn down soon and we're using that as an excuse not to clean or our maintain our rooms. New paint on the outside - gross carpets, falling down drapes and years of grunge on the inside. We stayed only long-enough to find another room, left the key at the desk and moved-on. Because the reservation is pre-pay and clearly states non-refundable, we didn't even bother to try. They know what they're selling and we didn't want to spoil the rest of the weekend. We were fine with old (the misleading online pictures are old too), but this place is dirty and no one should stay there!

Swimming pool closed do to construction which they don't tell you about until you are there , Phone in room to contact front office did not work. Booked 2 rooms and TV's in either room had no way to turn the sound on the TV up or down. Hair all over the room including bathrooms walls ect. Rooms are in desperate need of updating. Bathroom tubs will not drain fast so as your taking a shower your standing in 5 inches of your own soapy water. When calling down there the morning of the reservation , The lady in the front office did not want to take the time to answer any questions in in regards to the boat rentals , springs that was suppose to be 500 yards away ect. and hung up on me, when I mentioned it upon arrival , all I got was a Oh , Sorry to hear that. Other than the view which was great , there is nothing else good we can say about this motel. Paid over 240.00 a night for both run down rooms. Save your money and look else where.

First off, let me say that we have been using the pontoon boats for years to visit the local springs on school trips. This was my first experience renting directly. It is a cost effective way to take a group of 10 or less for those without a boat to the springs. The process is simple and straightforward, the staff friendly and accommodating, but there were definitely some negatives. 1. Limited “boundary”. For anyone wanting to explore the gulf islands beaches, you will not be able to do so. They have a remote kill that places the engine in limp mode. It will run for a short period 10-15 seconds, then die if you inadvertently go beyond the boundary. See the fine print at the bottom of the local map that is provided AFTER you sign and initial the legal form. It also mentions that you will be charged for related towing fees plus a $300 fine. It will restart and you can continue the cycle until back in range. 2. The seats on the boat are in disrepair. The vinyl was badly split and heavily stained from mold. I noticed that some had cheap cloth seat covers to hide this. Same with the steering wheel. As someone who grew up in the Everglades on the water, I understand the level of maintenance necessary to maintain a boat. If I’m going to rent a boat to take my family to the springs as a treat, it would be nice if the cushions were clean and in one piece. 3. The 12v cigarette lighter outlet wasn’t functional on the boat we rented. When I inquired, I was told this was the case for all the other boats at the dock. So much for charging your devices or using a portable inflator to air up inflatables. When I inquired about shore power on the dock to use my 110v pump, was told there was no option for that either. :-( 4. Lastly, a small nuance and pet peeve: none of the rocker switches were labeled or the labeling had long faded (as had most of the factory decals). Not certain that they had any function other than taking up space on the dash. On the plus side, the plastic “park” benches on the boats are clean, as is the rest of the boat. All the minimum gear was there and functional: fire extinguisher, anchor, dock lines, bimini top, dry storage. They have recently renovated their facility as well. The gift shop is now smaller, but still seems to have everything needed. The new restaurant seems to have gotten the lion’s share of the attention. Maybe the boats are next? Overall, if you just want a cheap way to take your crew to the springs for a day of fun or swimming with the manatee, this is a great, inexpensive option. If you want to do anything more (fish the islands/visit a beach) or just sit on clean cushions then maybe not. (Sorry...no pics)

My family reserved a pontoon boat to go swimming with the manatees. This location and the service were awesome. Reserving was easy and they had inexpensive wetsuit and snorkel/mask rentals right on site. The marina was incredibly flexible and helpful as we set sail for a great day swimming with manatees and enjoying a casual, fun family adventure. Thank you for a great day!! Sharon (Washington, DC)
