This is a wonderful find! It is very small, only a few rooms, and they are very nice! A king bed and a queen bed, a dining table, barn door at the bathroom, refrigerator, and storage for your clothes. They bring a sack breakfast the night before and there is a coffee maker in the room (or dunkin donuts is about 5 minutes away). This place is easily within walking distance of several good restaurants. You won't be disappointed if you are going to Crystal River!

I was traveling on business and inquired about staying at the hotel. The innkeeper had nothing that night but booked me for the second night. He let me look in the room but not go inside so I couldn't see how small it was. There were no amenities like a phone, coffee maker, microwave, hair dryer or any instructions on how to operate anything. No one showed me anything. That night I froze. Had to get up and put on all my clothes. No extra pillow or blanket. The concrete floor was frozen. The bathroom had no sink, Instead, a huge utility sink was next to the refrigerator that I could barely reach across. No decent lighting, no place to put on make up or brush my teeth. No table or chair so no place to eat what came in a bag at 8:00 PM when someone pounded on my door. Fake coffee, old fruit, nasty, inedible. Unwelcome. When I checked in, I was told afterwards that I could not cancel as their xx policy was four days advance notice. I would have cancelled and left if I could have. I was forced to pay a security deposit because the innkeeper told me they had a lot of problems with guests smoking marijuana. I do not smoke marijuana so I gave him the deposit. The next morning, he accused me of smoking marijuana in the room. I told him that was impossible as I do not smoke marijuana or anything else. The room was completely clean but he forced me to look at the sheets with food stains, humiliating me, blaming me for eating on the bed. Where else was I supposed to eat? It's fairly normal for sheets to get dirty in hotels but he made me feel horrible. He refused to return my deposit and told me to return after 3 PM, a big inconvenience when you just want to go home after a sleepless night. I did return and this time was met by both owners in the parking lot yelling at me, waving my deposit in the air and demanding an apology from me and a promise not to return. I was in shock. They said, "So, you refuse to apologize?" I told them that I was certainly sorry for their inconvenience but since I do not, have not, smoked marijuana, I would not apologize for that. But I assured them I would not return, Ever. I am 69 years old, dress and act professionally and travel for business. I have never had such a bad experience in a hotel in my entire life. These people owe ME an apology and a refund. They don't know the first thing about hospitality or how to treat guests. Awful place. Horrible service.

Room Tip: This guy ran down all the other hotels in the area. The Best Western was a far better choice....

About 1 mile to Hunter Springs, where you can snorkle in clear water right over springs, and see Manatees. Right in the center of town. 1-2 blocks to all stores, great restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Several on the water restaurants within 2-3 miles of hotel.

The location is great. You can walk to several restaurants, shopping, and parks. We saw one manatee at Kings Bay Park adjacent to the motel. We even walked to Three Sisters Springs which might be a longer walk for some. The shower alone is worth the stay. The rooms are clean, bed is comfortable, and the rooms are completely remodeled. The owner is still doing work in the outside, however, it looks great. Due to COVID, we received a pre-bagged breakfast which included a pastry, yogurt, string cheese stick, banana and orange juice. Don’t pass on staying here or you will miss a great place.

I can't speak highly enough about this INCREDIBLE family-owned hotel in the heart of Historic Downtown Crystal River. Joel seems to be the owner and main operator, I called in advance and he answered all of my questions prior to booking which was super helpful in locking it in. I was originally going to book through Booking.com for Valentine's Day weekend, but waited to long so it was booked for 2 nights. I encourage you to call though before booking elsewhere though, Joel offered us the option for a one-night stay and told us he'd keep us in the loop if something opened up for our second night. From the outside, the small hotel looks quaint and matches the surrounding area, nice small town energy, but as soon as you walk in the room, you step into a modern and contemporary, SPOTLESS space with a shower that looks like its built for space or a Manhattan penthouse (in the best possible way). After a long day of kayaking, fishing, or snorkeling with Manatees, there's nothing like laying your head down in the most comfortable bed of ANYWHERE we've ever stayed. Also, because of COVID they had a packaged breakfast in our fridge. A perfect Valentine's Day weekend with my wife. Also, they set up red roses on the bed at my request for my wife, super nice and thoughtful of them to do. This will be the ONLY place we stay anywhere within a reasonable driving distance.
