This is a formerly posh hotel very badly run right now. Pre-covid? I don't know. Valet parking? I have to wander around the street to find someone to help. Retrieving car? No one at the phone number. At reception? Typically no one home, yelling helps a bit. Lobby lounge resembles a morgue. Wifi is an unsecured connection that my smartphone refuses to deal with - laptop is more persuadable so that's better than nothing. Room? Lovely room, big bathtub. 'Please Service' tag on door handle placed at 1pm, room was not made up by 7pm. To enter room? Lift handle rather than depress it. Who would figure that out? No helpful message on door, I'm told that 2 rooms currently have that 'feature'.

Lovely historic hotel - it was fun to wander around the facility to see ballrooms, etc. Renovations were apparent in many areas. Valet parking was expensive but convenient. Limited dining choices in the hotel & even in the surrounding walkable area.we enjoyed our stay.

Arrival was awful. We waited in a car line for parking for 15-20 minutes. There is room for only one car at a time. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Rooms were of average size, not bad but not small. We were happy to see a mini refrigerator in the room, which we used. Beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. TV was large and worked fine. Friday night prices were reasonable but much higher on other nights. We doubt we would stay there again. There were many things we did not like. There was one mirror in room and it was in the bathroom. It was very high and my wife, who is 5'1" could not use it. The sink area offered minimal room for our toiletries. The shower control and the shower head were new/modern but did not work well. The water flow was poor. Clock/alarm clock was difficult to set and was not illuminated so we could see it at night. There were few electric plugs for us to use. My wife could not find coffee in the lobby, something most hotels provide.

Beautifully restored. Filled with history. Perfect location. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only area of improvement is more staffing in restaurant...which we understand is due to Covid. However, we expect that will improve over time and we plan another visit.

Beautiful property with wonderful staff! Looking forward to my return visit in a couple of weeks! From the valet service to the front desk and the staff I encountered in the hall, everyone was welcoming and friendly.
