As other reviewers say, there is much to recommend this place. The location, Sam and his staff, sunsets, quiet island with friendly locals etc etc. However, I largely share the views of DCFabian. We had a fan room which was very basic and with the annoying large towels instead of sheets on the bed. (If you aren't aware you sometimes...

A pleasant surprise. Ko Sukorn is the island you do not expect: few tourists, with a big different from the most 'famous Thailand islands(with a definitely more beautiful sea. But it is not important, at least for me.L'Andaman beach resort is clean, right on the sea with a pleasant garden. The staff is the added value: friendly, efficient and above...

The staff at Sukorn Andaman really make it a pleasure to be here. You can tell the place is well-managed and the employees actually enjoy their work. Food at the restaurant is good and they have many Thai dishes, plus a few western items including simple western breakfasts. We ate dinner here each night of our stay and we would...

Simple but clean bungalows on the beach. Quiet, beautiful place on an island free of tourist hordes (yet). Very helpful and good management, friendly locals. No cars, no discos. Don't come if you want more. Thank you Sam!

This was a place we were looking for after a longer trip around Asia. To get there (meaning to get on the island after arriving at Hat Yai airport) may take while. In fact, we arrived at Hat Yai from Bangkok, used scheduled bus service to Trang where we arranged trip to the hotel at one of travel agencies. There...

This is a very pleasant, relaxing, if unspectacular place to stay. Sam, the owner, speaks excellent English and is very helpful in arranging transport to/from the island and elsewhere. The resort sits right on the beach, facing west, so you have perfect sunsets every evening. I had a bungalow with A/C - the A/C worked pretty well, not great although...

Koh Sukorn is a wonderfully relaxing and quiet place to go. We stayed 4 nights and it could have been longer. The island is beautiful but unspectacular in terms tourists sites and we loved it for that. Andaman beach resort is like the island. Relaxed and quiet and right on a great stretch of beach with a restaurant that serves...

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Sukorn Andaman Beach Resort for 4 nights in December and enjoyed our stay immensely. This place is a real gem. It's off the beaten track somewhat but benefits from that. Our rooms were comfortable and although the towels for sheets was quirky, they fulfil their function fine. That we were only a few...

We spend with friends an family some nice days in the bungalows right at the beach in this resort. Everything is very basic and though feels authentic. The staff is very nice and organized a 3-island snorkle trip for all of us (at a lower price as teh resort next door). The food is certainly more than OK, although we...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Sukorn Andaman Resort, tucked right along the middle of Ban Koh Beach on Sukorn Island, looking west. From the breezy shade of your bungalow veranda, or perhaps from the comfort of your favorite chair on the beach, enjoy some of the most spectacular sunsets on the Andaman coast, in a relaxed, peaceful environment. With only three small resorts on this kilometer-long beach, the atmosphere is definitely quiet and casually relaxed. And these three beach bungalow establishments are pretty much the sum total of tourist accommodation on the island. First time visitors arriving from the more hectic environments of other nearby tourist destinations are often heard to comment on the quiet, relaxed pace here on Sukorn Island. And no wonder! Larger-scale, fast-paced industrial tourism seems to have given this place a miss. First-time visitors to Sukorn Andaman Resort often come for a night—and stay for a week. Or perhaps longer. This can be a place that’s hard to leave. Many of the guests are “long-stay”, arriving in December and staying until the weather warms back home. Almost everyone is a “repeat” visitor. It’s hard to find a more relaxed atmosphere, a more beautiful setting. Resort managers Sam and Rona and their friendy staff have a knack for making their guests feel comfortably at home in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. Head cook Jai and her competent kitchen staff can speedily create gourmet meals, beginning with an extensive breakfast menu(included in the room rate). They also offer an impressive list of Thai dishes, often including fresh daily, locally caught seafood prepared exactly as you wish. When you can finally pry yourself away from the beach, a walk, bike ride or motorbike trip into one of the four villages will provide a chance to observe truly traditional ways of island life. Watch as the rice farmers complete their rice harvest, largely by hand, and replant with watermelon for the dry season. Or look in on families laboriously preparing sheets of latex from their rubber plantation, or fishermen overhauling their nets for the next nights fishing. Wherever you go, you’ll be greeted with welcoming smiles and perhaps a friendly attempt at conversation.. ... more   less
