Conveniently located off I-84, we experienced a disappointing start with a room assignment which was turned around by Paulette on the front desk. I reserved a standard room with a king bed through Hilton central reservations to discover on check-in that our standard room was a small end room without even a desk. Paulette offered to move us to a 2 queen bed room for the same price. She said the person making the reservation specified the small standard end room. Lesson learned--check when booking to know what you're getting. Kudos to Paulette--she even helped us move. Room No. 2 was clean with a fridge, comfy beds, two chairs including the desk chair, and plenty of hot water. The breakfast was very adequate with sausage patties, pancakes, cereal, etc., in a pleasant sitting area. The attendant kept the buffet stocked and cleaned. There are a few fast food and other restaurants in the area along with gas stations. All in all, a good stop and hotel choice.…
My husband is riding his bicycle from Canada to Key West. I'm the SAG (supplies and gear) driver. It usually takes an hour or less for me to drive from one hotel to the next. I explained my situation to the woman at the front desk, and asked if I could just sit in the business center and use my computer. She insisted that there was a room ready (at 10:30 am!) and I was welcome to use it (and this was on Labor Day weekend!) They have a fabulous breakfast buffet, complete with do-it-yourself pancakes (not waffles), eggs, meat, sweet rolls, etc. Highly recommended.
My wife and I stayed 2 nights, arriving before 2PM. The nice receptionist checked my ID, took the card guarantee and issued the key cards. We carted our bags to one of the 2 central elevators up to the 3rd floor. Room #351 was the small king we reserved with a comfortable bed, larger refrigerator, micro and Keurig, dresser with good-sized TV(60 channels), very tight desk and chair and a fully outfitted bathroom with tub/shower(passive exhaust and tear in curtain). Room WIFI was strong and a wall thermostat controlled the under window AC/heat. The 20’ x 40’ pool looked nice for warmer weather but I did use the new 7 station Matrix gym. The 6 AM “Grab n Go” breakfast bag was a struggle of making choices with the receptionist in the next room choosing among small juices, yogurts, bagel, muffins, oatmeals, sugary cereals and milk (The 2nd day I made a list to assist.) Lobby tea and coffee with various creamers(no decaf) was available. This is a quiet, clean updated 122 room hotel with many restaurants/Walmart (within a mile to the south) and easy access to I-84. While this was a comfortable stay at $140/night, we will choose the normal size king in the future, although the small king may be acceptable for one person.…
DEAD BUGS EVERYWHERE IN OUR ROOM! We stayed here the night of 5/29, and booked with Priceline. Checked in after dinner, then immediately took a nap because we were just coming back from a long weekend of hiking. Room looked nice and clean if you didn't look too close. Neither of us had gone into the bathroom until around 1 am, however looking into the shower tub there were SO MANY dead bugs in there and upon further investigation, we noticed more around the floor of the bathroom, and in the sink, and then we even found some ON THE PILLOWS! I felt absolutely disgusting to be staying in a place like this, which is NOT a motel?! So then immediately I went to the front desk and notified them of the situation, however the man informed me that there was nothing that they could do since I booked through Priceline - I couldn't even be switched to another room??? It was so late at that point that I just gave up and waited until I woke up in the morning to talk to a manager. I let her know of the situation, she was HARDLY apologetic and said there was nothing she could do because I stayed the night in the room and did not call Priceline last night. Are you KIDDING ME? What was I supposed to do at 1 am? Find another hotel right then and there? Try to call Priceline and wait 30 min just to talk to a human? So nonetheless, I would NOT recommend staying here unless you want to sleep alongside dead bugs. Also - there's no hot breakfast right now (which isn't listed anywhere) but instead it's just "grab and go" which is just muffin/bagel/juice.…
We had to travel to CT from WV for a week’s stay due to a death in the family. We had to run in & out of our hotel room a million times between running back & forth to multiple family visits while here. Every person on the staff was nothing but friendly & helpful! Free bagged breakfasts in the am were a lifesaver! Room was clean & we were able to ask for any extra necessities we needed since we kept the do not disturb sign on door our whole trip. Hotel was quiet even w/a packed parking lot. Convenient location w/tons of restaurants & stores super close!
When I arrived this week, the front desk manager was quick and friendly. Told me where everything was and sent me up to my room. I got in, The Housekeeper hadnt been able to finish the beds. I came down ant let him know. He was embarassed (which wasnt necessary, things happen). he apologized profusely and immediately set me up with a room upgrade and free bottles of water. I was thankful and went about my stay. The new room was clean, well-maintained and quiet. I will happily return to this hotel should I need to stay in the Southington area again.
Very good ihg property set back off of the state highway 5 minutes off rt. 91 close to hartford. Outdoor pool closes after labor day, nice store onsite good mgmt and front desk staff.Good restaurants nearby including portugese, steak and local chains.quiet and good sleep lot of parking seems to sell out when im in the area during the fall season
The first room we stayed in had a long sized bed with a desk and little sofa. The bathroom door didn't fully fit in the doorframe, and I had to contact maintenance to resolve. Then after we purchased some food, and went to put it in the fridge, we found out the fridge in the room didn't work. We were given another room (smaller) with a king size bed, and the glass sliding doors for the shower didn't fully close. When I attempted to inquire about compensation for the room, I was only offered more points with the IHG club, and they did not allow for anything else. For a 4 night stay at over six hundred dollars, this seems to be a poorly maintained hotel, and I would not recommend staying here.
Recently updated facility with friendly, helpful staff. Good variety of breakfast items. Very comfortable room. Great location with easy access to interstate. Plenty of restaurants, shopping centers, and stores near by.
From the front desk to breakfast service to housekeeping, every staff member was friendly, helpful and professional. We were here for two nights for the close proximity to Lake Compounce amusement park. We will be returning at the end of the week as our first stop on our vacation to Tennessee. This Holiday Inn is doing hospitality the right way. The only negative is the absence of an indoor pool. Looking forward to seeing Ed at the front desk and Kim in the breakfast area the next time we stay here.
