I have been meaning to write this review for a couple of months. Here goes...This cozy looking inn nestled in the woods looks so special from the outside. There are three buildings and all looked so quaint and charming. This was by far the "worst" room we have ever stayed in! We have traveled many places and had bad rooms,... More

Our room was very outdated, and all of the bed linens were extremely wrinkled. The restaurant that is advertised as being on the grounds was closed because they have no manager, which we were not informed of before our arrival. We had to drive back into downtown Litchfield in order to find a place to eat dinner, and when we... More

We booked an internet special for a room that just stated third floor in a certain building. Beware – this building needs TONS of renovations. I am surprised they let someone stay in this room. There are 22 rooms in 3 builds. There were 6 rooms the William Tell building (rooms #1-6). We stayed in a third floor #4 and... More

We stayed at the Tollgate Hill Inn for a wedding in Litchfield and were extremely dissatisfied. Aside from the rooms being outdated and tacky, they were DIRTY. It was such an awful experience. The toilet did not drain properly and we had to shower with sock because of all the mold in the shower.

The staff couldn't be more attentive but not intrusive. A beautiful, quiet, restful retreat after a hectic day. Love the historic feel. Easily accessible. Lovely quiet trails for exercise. Will stay there again.

In reference to the Schoolhouse cabin, If you like the outdoors and a cabin in the woods, this is your place. It has charm, age, space, but in very need of a re-do. The inside represents the same as the outside. Front desk informed us of roaming bears. Forget the breakfast, eat out. Staff was very accommodating.

My husband and I took a 3-day trip to Litchfield and stayed at the Tollgate Hill Inn. The room had two comfortable canopied queen beds. Everything smelled newly washed and cleaned. There was a balcony off our room that was very nice. The room included a small refrigerator, TV and wi-fi. It was a quiet weekday, so I can't comment... More

My husband and I booked the Tollgate Hill Inn for a one night staycation. We entered the inn and met with Alicia the manager upon arrival. She was warm, welcoming and a fountain of information. We checked in to room 17. The room is quite large with a deck and fire place! The night was chilly so the fire place... More

Friendly staff. Breakfast was only fresh on the first morning, after that it was leftovers from the first morning (we stayed 3 days). Fresh fruit at breakfast was appreciated. Dinning room was not cleaned throughout our stay. This place could be fantastic, but sadly right now it isn't.

We stayed in the school house suite. The bed was super comfy and the room itself was beautiful and we really enjoyed the fire place. The bathroom needed a coat of paint, new toilet and sink, it wasn't nasty by any means but definitely needed an update. We were really disappointed that the restaurant was still closed when we arrived... More
