We needed a large hotel block (45 guests) for a wedding at a nearby venue. The Farmington Inn provided us with beautiful rooms at a fair price, and convenient shuttle service to and from the event. They also distributed gift bags to our guests upon check-in. All in all a satisfying stay, and would return again.
My visit was the result of the celebration of a friend’s wedding. I have not traveled much in Connecticut except to visit friends a short distance from New York. As such the Farmington Inn was a surprise.
The room was quite large, immaculate and comfortable. The four poster bed was a nice touch as well. A complimentary breakfast was served and coffee and tea remained available through out the day and evening in the lobby. Just steps away is a lovely Italian restaurant, where the service is warm, friendly and great. Across the street is a homey pizzeria with great pizza, sandwiches and craft beers.
The Inn is in a great location with a variety of a activities close by. Certainly worthy of a return trip.
Stayed here for two nights. Very clean and comfortable room with excellent staff. There is no restaurant in the hotel but there is an excellent Italian restaurant next door, which also provides room service to guests in the hotel. For cheaper options there is a pizza restaurant just across the road. Breakfast options are good too. Plenty of free parking at the hotel.
Room 250. Mid June. Closet could not be accessed because of broken door. Window was filthy, curtain torn. Bathroom lighting poor with a roaring fan. Spoke with desk clerk on our way out to a party, hoping for some repair while we were away. Nothing. Called down next AM. No "supervisor." Left a day early. Called and left message later to express our concern with the deterioration of the property. A woman called and left a message saying she would call back the next day. Nothing. Wrote a letter to the proprietors' group who run several of these hotels. Nothing. This could be a lovely spot but is being run into the ground with no regard for upkeep or gracious hospitality.
Ben and Mrs Too spent a night in Farmington on the way to her sister’s home in Medford, Massachusetts. We were immediately struck by the restrained elegance of the lobby and were welcomed as warmly as if we were in Charleston, South Carolina. Check in went as smoothly as could be, and we found our room every bit as elegant as the rest of the house.
Breakfast at the Farmington Inn is clearly above average, much closer to a hotel dining room experience.
The village of Farmington is quaint and historical, making this modified route to New England quite an adventure. We will very likely return on future visits.
Not much. But Farmington's long, wide Main Street is a pleasant hike. You pass big old homes, 5,000 square feet or more, with front lawns an acre or two deep. Main Street is right around the corner from the Farmington Inn.

"Ask if any have been renovated. Ours was a suite and it had one small dirty window."
