Had a great time. The lodge was cool and was in a great location. Very close to the ski area. Staff was very friendly and will definitely stay again. They made booking online and late check in very easy.

Room somewhat clean. Leaky faucet. No internet in rooms. Scott was short with me on the phone. Space heater on baseboards fire hazard. No window. Rarely anyone was attending the front desk/office in lobby. No hot tub as stated in the welcome letter. Very outdated place. $400 for 4 nights. No real amenities. Won't return unless nothing else is available

Great location, great value, right next to restaurants and has a ski shop. These are basic accommodations, with a rustic feel and old furnishings. This is not upscale and I wasn't expecting it to be, but right for the price.

Got a bargain room for the convenience of not having to drive home after a exhilarating day on the slopes. Wow. What a bargain. Luckily I am a smaller person and this room fit me just fine. Not much room for anyone/anything else. Loved the close proximity to all the downtown fun. Great restaurants in walking distance and parking was...

The room was gross, dirty floor, hair in tub, mold on shower curtain, smelled like pee, dust every where, old dried food on bedding, no fan in bathroom. The whole place was in a state of disrepair. Yuck.

Awesome place, very well located and relatively cheap for what it offers. The bus stop to Winter Park is right next to the hotel, and busses come every 5-10 min. There are ski cabinets outside the room to store the skis overnight. Friendly staff and owners, clean rooms and common areas, awesome chocolate always ready to warm ones cold hands and...

I have stayed at the Viking many times. The first time, the present owners had just purchased it, and the property was pretty run down. They have consistently made improvements over the years and presently it is a very nice property with caring, professional owners.

We stayed here for three nights during a family weekend ski trip, and it worked great! I'd highly recommend if you are looking for a cheaper option that is still convenient and comfortable. We also appreciated having free parking options.

Old facility. Room was very small and sparsely furnished. But we appreciated the option for lower-priced lodging. Great location off highway, close to bus stop and restaurants. Office had friendly staff.

Hello - thanks for the review. Yes some (actually most) of our room are smaller than the average hotel room, even down to 100 sq ft. Our kings and family loft rooms are very large though. Our hotel was originally built in the late 40's!.

If you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay in Winter Park, this is a very good option. The rooms are what you would expect for a 'ski hotel'. A small refrigerator, bed, TV (with cable) and bathroom. The bus lines for Winter Park stop right across the street (25 to 30 yards away), so this is very convenient location....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
You get what you pay for… Located in downtown Winter Park, the Viking Lodge and Ski Shop is an icon in Winter Park. Since 1953 we have been providing affordable lodging to guests who just want to ski and have a great time. At The Viking Lodge you get what you pay for. The carpets are old, the walls are thin, and the TV’s are not flat screen. But we won’t break your budget; we offer cheap accommodations in an old ski lodge at a great location in downtown Winter Park. We have 21 rooms; from VERY small to apartments. All rooms have private baths and color televisions; box style televisions, yes they are old TV’s, but you should be outside not sitting in your room watching TV. Pool, gym, ice sculptures, room service, robes, bell boys, 24 hour front desk, spa – this is a list of stuff we don’t have. We do have clean rooms, a great downtown location, game room, friendly staff and the best dirt parking lot in Winter Park. We don’t do daily maid service or mints on pillows, but if you ask we will clean your room and find a mint somewhere. If you’d rather be surfing the web than skiing, riding, biking, hiking, reading, chatting with friends or meeting new ones, you’ll be pleased to know that we have Wi-Fi in the lobby. I suppose some have to work anyway. You can make use of our luggage room before check-in and after check-out. Our reception is not open all day (heck we would rather be outside skiing, riding, biking or hiking too) but no fear, we will leave directions for check-in; usually at the Ski Shop or T-shirt shop. If you will be arriving after hours (like 6PM) please call. Coming soon The Viking Lodge is a work in progress; despite all attempts to the contrary we are becoming more impressive on a daily basis. Some rooms even have tile in the bathrooms, new sinks and fancy bedspreads and curtains. ... more   less
