Visited the Grand Imperial in October '16 and found it to be beautifully restored with seemingly every detail intact. The rooms were very clean, nicely set with antique furniture juxtaposed with a flat screen to watch football. Make sure you bring your hiking shoes - it is a historic hotel so there are no elevators (if elevators are your thing,... More

We took the train from Durango to Silverton and stayed overnight at The Grand Imperial. The hotel was lovely. We had a room on the second floor - it was large and bright with lots of historic touches, even down to the Mark Twain books on the shelves. We were told when we booked the hotel that there was no... Called in for lunch and what a lunch it was. I had the onion soup with an onion soup burger. Someone els had the bison burger and 2 had braised bison with mash and we all enjoyed the huge portions. Service was very speedy, in fact the drinks were on the table before we finished ordering! There was a resident... More

We took the train up from Durango, stayed the night in the Grand Imperial and returned to Durango on the train the next day. This is better than riding the train both ways on the same day which can be a bit tedious. The Grand Imperial now belongs to the owners of the Durango-Silverton Railroad and they have refurbished it... More

`We had a corner room on the 2nd floor, very large. Bed was very comfortable. Needed the little step stool to get up in the bed. Employees are very friendly. It is only about 1 block from the train station.

The rooms are nice and clean and the bathrooms are very nice. The bed was very comfortable and the TV was great. The new style blinds in the room made it feel like being in a fish bowl if you left them open and you could not see the view if you closed them. I miss the old style sheer... More

Took the train ride up here and decided to spend the night and take the train ride back, glad we decided on this, if you like to take pictures, this is the best thing to do, we spent the morning walking around Silverton before our afternoon train ride,it's nice cause there is not a lot of people there, on the... when you make your reservation they fail to mention that there are no elevators, no bell hop (had to carry our luggage up two flights of stairs), the free parking is in the mud, room on third floor is very small (10x12), no discounts, no coffee in room, no complementary breakfast, and no awnings to park under while unloading and... The Grand Imperial is a charming old hotel. My room was much larger than I expected. My king sized bed was extremely comfortable. The windows in the room opened and there was a ceiling fan. The staff were lovely--very friendly and helpful. My room was opposite from the street, so I did not experience much street noise. There is no... More

We came up on the train and spent the night at the Grand Imperial Hotel. The woman at the front desk was in period costume and told us all about the history of the hotel. The recent restoration is quite nice. We were on the third floor with a great room. We even had a sitting area at the top... More
