I had reservations for 15-MAY-14. I arrived at about 09:30 & found a sign telling me to telephone a number for entry. I had no telephone, & none was available at the door . I left a message asking for time of their return. I could not find a coin phone in the town. About an hour later, I returned....

Sorry to hear your experience went this way. You booked online which states our policies and check in times. Our front door sign also states our office hours. We're a small facility in a small town. To keep things reasonably affordable, we can only staff Simple Lodge in the evening. Staff have a phone with them to handle after hours...

Just as you'd find traveling abroad, it's a bona fide hostel with bunk dorm rooms sans sheets/blankets and private rooms, one en suite. Super friendly staff and great pricing. Fabulously centrally located. Cons: Towel was super stiff and shower faucet wouldn't budge.

I had such a great time staying at the Simple Lodge. I spent two nights there and had a chance to meet some really awesome people. The location in Salida is great and the owner Jon was very helpful. The town of Salida was also enjoyable and the next time I pass through I will definitely stay at the Simple...

...in the mountains. So expect through-hikers looking for a good meal and other outdoor enthusiasts, such as cross-country bikers and fisherman. The bed was uncomfortable, pillows were lumpy and stained, and the bathroom was never cleaned. Creaky floors and thin walls means you know where everyone else is in the house. Owners are great, as well as staff. Very accommodating...

I love this place. So much so that I almost did not write a review. I’d like to keep it a secret insuring that I can get a room when I want one! But I am a sharer so here it is. It is a great place. The location is ideal for exploring the town of Salida. Located in the...

I stayed there once before and it was satisfactory. The owner very helpful and present. This time the owner was nowhere to be found and the place was crusty and not recommended for sleep. I was given zero information on check-in. Key code? Laundry? I had to ask multiple times before I finally got towels and washrags. One of the...

Obviously not a stellar performance by us during your stay. Its not the responsibility of guests to enforce quiet hours; if guests call us, we will enforce quiet hours upon other guests. We live on site and have 2 numbers one can call to reach us.

While it is only one of two hostels I have stayed in, The Simple Lodge and Hostel is quite lovely. Its location in Salida on 1st street just east of the popular F Street is prime. It is walking distance to anything you'd need in the town. Consignment shops, coffee houses, bars, delis, bakeries, walking/biking paths, the river and even...

I stayed in the simple lodge along with some friends for 5 nights. We stayed in both the family room and the private suite. Both were great, especially the suite. Everything was clean, the water was hot, and the rooms were cheap. Also, Jon was a great host advising us on places to see and eat while we were in...

I have stayed here several times since 2008 and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Jon and Julia are wonderful hosts. The place is always clean and you can't beat the location. On my first visit Jon gave me a lot of advice on places to eat and grab a beer. I have met a lot of interesting people who were...
