Travellers' Choice
What makes a hotel truly special?Prestige? Romance? Luxury? As a four diamond Colorado Springs Hotel, these attributes are very important, and we have each of them in abundance, but none of them matter as much as... the stories. The stories that are started here, by brides and grooms celebrating their weddings. The stories that are commemorated here, when couples choose us for their anniversaries. The stories that are shared here, when family vacations become unforgettable memories. Our stories really do matter: they define who we are. You see, as the premier historic hotel of the Greater Colorado Springs area, our history is forever intertwined with what we are today. In fact, The Cliff House is older than the State of Colorado itself! And just like your story, we have had our ups and downs: we have played host to famous dignitaries, and we have been a barracks for soldiers. Later floods and fires have even threatened our hotel's very existence. But, just like you, we've persevered. After our extensive remodel and grand re-opening in 1999, we quickly proved that The Cliff House is once again one of Colorado's finest luxury hotels. Nestled at the foot of majestic Pikes Peak, we've managed to keep all the trappings of Victorian elegance and luxury and also become a leader in innovative room features with state-of-the-art technology. Since 2001, we've consecutively received the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award for both the hotel and our dining room. Our dining room has also received the DiRoNa Award, and Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence, every year. From our world-class fine dining, our amazing rooms, personalized service, our fun new bar and grill, to the limitless experiences and activities Manitou Springs has to offer: we are confident that you will love your stay here... and what a story you'll have to tell! We're proud of our history. Come share yours with us! We're within ten minutes of downtown Colorado Springs, but (rest assured) a world away!

We stayed for three days, and loved it. The staff was engaged and helpful. Breakfast was good, and they offer some great menu items and options. Were very attentive to safety for COVID. The history and style were amazing.

We stayed for 5 days at the queen suite, room 203. We originally booked via AA Vacations package and were supposed to stay at Kathy Lee Bates Suite, which we picked from the pictures on hotel's website, as it was the only one that showed wood paneling floors (we prefer that vs carpets). When we arrived it turned out the original suite had an issue with heating so we were accommodated in a comparable suite but with carpets. The front desk staff told us that they were not aware of any suites with wooden floors so apparently the pictures were out of date. Overall the stay was pleasant, everything in the suite worked fine (the gas fireplace and the big hot bathtub were a big plus in the winter). It is a historic structure, so naturally some corners showed their age, but we expected it and the old charm of the place made up for any shortcomings. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Location is very convenient, everything is walking distance. We were offered $15/day valet parking (unlimited entry, 24 hrs/day) but we had no problems finding free street parking uphill on Canon Ave (most of the historic downtown is metered parking), so it wasn't necessary. We ate at the hotel restaurant only once, but the salmon with black rice was delicious. A bit pricey, but worth the money, excellent dish. The only small negative was the $20/day room service fee ($22.21/day with taxes), which was unexpected, as we thought that our AA package included all fees. That is the reason for 4 stars not 5 (besides the switch from wood floors to carpets). On the other hand our breakfast was included (normally $14/pp X2) and the overall price was a great deal, undoubtedly due to Covid-related drop in bookings. We'd stay there again, it was a great experience.

Dear Kris, Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review. Our staff always enjoy pleasant feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the amenities in our Deluxe Queen Suites. Our two person spa tubs are always a nice surprise for our guests. We do hope you took advantage of the other amenities included in our $20 per night amenity fee other than our breakfast (the nightly old fashioned turndown service, WiFi access, Fitness Center access and the bottled water in your refrigerator which is replenished daily.) We hope you will join us again soon.

Stayed one night on the second floor in room 209, a queen studio. Room was nice, but loud noises. Staff was awesome. Valet parking is a must...since you cannot park on the street during the day because it was so busy in town. Found out at at night, you could NOT park on the street... but they sure charge you for it. Taxes and fees with room service and delivery fee's were a bit steep.

We are pleased you enjoyed your room. As with any hotel there are sales and occupancy taxes. As a destination hotel versus a roadside motel we do provide extra services and amenities including bottled water daily, breakfast for two daily, WiFi, 24 hour fitness center and our Old -Fashioned turndown service. These amenities are covered under a nominal $20 fee and our Valet parking is optional at a minor $15 a day with unlimited in and out and 24 hour access.

Paid for a queen suite and was given a standard room. Also paid the $20’fee for breakfast and made the reservation and went and could not get seated after waiting 20 minutes we left. The room was run down had to have maintenance come up twice to fix things. Told the front desk at checkout and she didn’t even care. Don’t waste your money. I have stayed in cheaper hotels with much better service and rooms.

We are sorry you did not receive the room you thought you had booked. We wish you had brought this to management's attention while you were here so that we could have arranged for a different room for you. We are also not sure why you were unable to be seated for breakfast as we were seating in the dining room, the music room and the veranda. Again we apologize for the inconvenience.
