We only spent one night, but would stay there again if we happen to be in Lake City. The room was clean and pleasant. The people in the office were very friendly. It is just a short walk to the historic downtown.

We appreciate your kind review of The Matterhorn! Indeed, we are in the middle of town and guests very much like to park their bikes or vehicles and walk to the shops, restaurants/coffee shops, hiking trails, etc. We hope to see you on another occasion. Thank you!

The Matterhorn is not a five-star luxury hotel. However, it is the nicest hotel in the Lake City area. One does not go to Lake City for indoor activity. He or she goes for the beautiful scenery and outdoor adventures. This is a great place to stay on such occasions. The hotel is neat, clean, and personal. The staff is...

What a lovely room with kitchenette we had. Very comfortable, very clean and very quiet. As others have mentioned, the shower (and bathroom on the whole) is small but still quite functional. The owner, proprietress, was very welcoming and friendly which is a lovely way to be greeted after traveling all day. Kitchenette was very well stocked with pots/pans, utensils,...

Always stay here when passing through Lake City. Clean, comfortable, and you can unpack the car just feet from the door - no lugging things around. A wonderful touch is the lawn chair out front where you can sit outside and enjoy the view. Has a kitchenette, if you're into making your own food. Only warning comment I would make...

Thank you for your kind review, we appreciate your business! Everyone at the Matterhorn tries very hard to provide our guests a pleasant lodging experience. It is great when we are able to accommodate our guests with early check-in but it is not always possible. A few guests have complained about our check-in time at 3 pm but we want...

We only stayed one night but next time in Lake City we'll stay longer. The place, while an old-fashioned motel, is very clean and up-to-date. Some rooms have small kitchens, a nice-to-have feature when traveling. The beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are small, and the showers are tiny, but adequate. The weather was nice so we sat out in front of...

We stayed here for two nights and were generally pleased. The room was clean and quiet. The reasons I didn't give it a five star rating are (1) we had to wait precisely until 3 p.m. to check in, even though we were just five minutes early and (2) wifi reception was spotty, at times slower than dial-up and at...

Perfect location of a quaint motel in a small city in the mountains. A one block walk takes you to the center of town. Bars, restaurants, shops, bakery and coffee houses are all walking distance. Clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. Hot tub for post hiking of fishing relaxation. We used the grill for making...

There aren't many lodging options available in winter in Lake City. "Perfectly acceptable" isn't exactly an overly glowing endorsement but that's what the Matterhorn is....it's perfectly acceptable. Considering supply and demand we were happy to just be able to find a place to stay in Lake City in March...if the price had been slightly less we might have stayed longer....

This is a wonderful place to stay. I had two great nights of sleep. The bed was so comfortable. The people who run the place were really nice. It is quiet and peaceful in one of the most beautiful settings I have ever been in. There is a small kitchen in the room that made it perfect for us, as...
