The lake is so pretty, but most of the campsites can't see it. The fishermans paradise area is more like camping in a parking lot. There are no utilities in the sites. The bathrooms are clean as well as the showers. The Rangers were very friendly.

Nice drive to this lake south of Eagle, Colorado. Very scenic and saw some old cabin ruins on the way that made for beautiful, early autumn pictures. The road that continues beyond the lake looked rougher and we didn't have time to explore it but it looked scenic as well. If you actually drive down to lake, you will have...

There were lots of kayaks and paddle boards on the water. The trail was wide, with great views all around the lake. Many people were successful with fishing. The 1.5 mile trail was perfect for us after 17 hours of driving and getting acclimated to the elevation.

When we were there we camped in the middle of a grass field surrounded by mountains. It was beautiful. A nice lake to fish and hiking trails. Had water spigots to fill your jugs but no electricity. No place to charge phones (not even the outlet at the bathroom). Quarter showers that were nice and warm.

It's an hour drive from Avon on mostly paved road, with only the last 5 miles being well maintained dirt, to this lovely mountain lake. The 1.5 mile hike around the lake is scenic, about half in the sun and half in the trees. There are picnic tables right next to the parking, but they are not shaded. Some folks...

Amazing place for a hike. You can't swim at the lake, but you can bring your kayak or a floating boat like we did! There are some cabins and I saw some camping tents too. Lots of picnic tables around. Watch your step for the hundreds of holes on the ground. They are the houses of cute little ground squirrels....

Spent two nights here last week. Didn't really know what to expect, just found it online and decided to go. Not too far from Denver, which was nice. It's half forest, part Jurassic park. Tons of aspens, lots of foresty trees. Not too many trees in the actual campground though, which doesn't make for too much privacy, but we didn't...

Friendly staff at visitors center, plenty of picnic tables for day use, and a wide range of campsites. Take bug spray if walking around lake or fishing. Roads were maintained but I'd be hesitant to take a car beyond Sylvan Lake. Couldn't get beyond Basalt today because of large snow drift, but it was incredible scenery. $7 for day use...

We've stayed in Sylvan Lake twice, the first time in a tent site, the second in cabin #8--which we loved, and highly recommend. It's private, comfortable, and right by an aspen covered hillside. And it has access to the Sneeve Gulch hiking trail, which we found to be a short and relatively easy climb on a packed dirt trail to...

We spent an afternoon here. The visitor center is very nice and the staff are knowledge le and helpful. The lake is nice, as is the walking trail around it. There's really no shade, and at this high altitude, the sun can be scorching, so either bring your own shade, or plenty of sunscreen and water.
