Beautiful downstairs area in this castle in the Cap Hill neighborhood. The bed left a lot to be desired. My only real complaint was that someone, maybe an employee, got on his phone about midnight and talked on it for a long time. The one-inch gap under the door to my room allowed me to hear it all while I tried to sleep. Breakfast was really good. Rooms were furnished better than a lot of the other BnBs in the area, but that bed was a deal breaker (and back breaker).
The rooms, the food, and the service far exceed anything you'll find in a hotel at this price point. In fact, I think it would be hard to find something close at any price and I've stayed in some pretty nice hotels. It's clearly a hidden treasure because the concept of bed and breakfast doesn't do this place justice. If a tiny fraction of hotel users knew, the mansion would be booked into 2050. To me it really is hotel like in terms of privacy. We stayed in a two room room with a fireplace in the "living room" and a jacuzzi in the bedroom with a separate bathroom. It was very homey and a genuine escape. We stayed there and went out less often than we had planned because it was so relaxing. They write the book on hospitality! I've never seen such an accommodating atmosphere. Regardless of the reasons for your stay, this will be the highlight of your trip. P.S. Don't pay any attention to this review because I don't want to be competing with you for my next stay.…
I booked my stay at Capital Hill Mansion because all hotels downtown were sold out. Little did I know how lucky I was discovering this hidden gem. Carl and Bailey put their whole heart in this beautiful place and provided the best hospitality a guest can ask for. The room is HUGE and cleaned diligently every day. The best part is that you get to eat cooked home made breakfast everyday (and tastes heavenly).
My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of the mansion, the breakfast was sweet and delicious, all while enjoying the lovely conversation and company of the father/daughter who run it. It was great for a weekend stay for locals!
We had a wonderful week- long stay at the Capitol Inn in June. This beautifully restored mansion is a real gem located on Denver’s lovely Millionaire’s Row neighborhood, just one block away from the Molly Brown Mansion, a must see during your visit. Carl and Bailey take great pride in running this wonderful inn, making sure all their guests are happy and comfortable. Their personal warmth and friendliness make you feel right at home. We stayed in the Paintbrush, located on the 1st floor. Beautiful wood floors and nicely decorated with a comfortable king-sized bed, great air conditioner and quiet surroundings. Carl and Bailey gave great recommendations for local restaurants (which we walked to each night) and sight-seeing. There is a nice park just a few blocks away if you want to take a stroll during the day. There is also a wonderful botanical garden, museum, zoo and aquarium nearby and Red Rocks is just a car ride away, a beautiful place to spend the day and hike and/or see a concert under the stars. There is a beautiful garden patio where breakfast is served each morning during the warmer months. Carl is an exceptional chef and each breakfast was delicious and lovingly prepared. One thing I will always remember is Carl’s kindness. It started to rain one evening as we were leaving to walk to dinner and as we started to head down the street, Carl shows up on the porch offering us an umbrella. Cowboy Carl you are the best! Thanks Cowboy and sweet Bailey for a wonderful stay. We are sure to be back! Wishing you much happiness and good health for 2023! Linda and Steve…
We stayed for one night in the Paintbrush room. Our stay was mid November, so it was cold outside and this room was cozy. The owners keep a very nice place. Everything was clean and tidy. We appreciated the wine set out for happy hour and the breakfast was excellent. Communication was great and parking is located in the back of the building. The surrounding area is very nice, had it been warmer we could have walked to dinner. I'm not sure how many other guests were there the night we stayed, but it was very quiet. We would definitely stay here again. It's a great value.
We came down for a couple nights over the New Years holiday & couldn’t have been happier! This beautiful, historic property has so much personality — our room was awesome (Shooting Star) and the others we got to see were each elegant & great in their own way. Bath/shower options do very room to room & ours had a huge bathroom with large tub & separate shower! It was really comfortable. Breakfast was equally amazing both mornings … Carl, the innkeeper, is an exceptional cook & I’ve got to say the Crème Brûlée French Toast was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. He & his daughter Bailey really make every guest feel comfortable& “at home” while staying at the mansion. Location is very central, and walking distance (or a short ride-share) to the other downtown areas of Denver. Parking is a challenge in the neighborhood but they even work hard to make that easy too, with multiple spaces behind the house. Simply outstanding experience!!!…
The Capitol Hill Mansion BnB is a top-notch establishment. It is well maintained and sumptuous in its design and renovation. Further, the owner, Carl, takes great pride in making the place welcoming and serves great breakfasts which are gourmet and never boring. We were there for 10 nights.
Very helpful hosts , good breakfast at convenient times , great location, , close to downtown , on-site parking, comfortable beds, extremely quiet house. Each room is a little different but special . We will definitely be back.
We were planning a trip to Denver (from Boulder) to visit History Colorado and have dinner. At the last minute we decided to stay overnight and were fortunate to get the last available room at Capitol Hill. Fifteen years ago, when we lived in Breckenridge, we stayed at Capitol Hill on several occasions and enjoyed it. It was nice to see that the quality of the facility and the warm hospitality haven't changed in all those years. As my wife and I were leaving, we vowed we would visit Capitol Hill more often in the future. Thanks for a great visit!
