Cons: No hairdryer, charged for breakfast, parking not free at an airport hotel, only enough coffee for 1 in room, wouldn’t sell a small bottle of wine after 10pm due to covid when stores down the street sold it, entire hotel “out of bottled water” and no vending machine. Was told to drink tap water. Didn’t meet Marriott expectations. Pros: Nice updated rooms, comfortable bed. Nice lobby area but make sure your mask is on at all times or the staff will jump all over you. Pros to that too I guess.
Overall I would recommend this hotel for a brief one or two night stay. The reason I gave two stars is for the following reasons: 09/18/2020 we stayed for 2 nights. Upon getting to the room, we noticed the handle to the toilet was extremely difficult to push down/flush. Literally we thought one of us would break it before the end of the stay, it was that difficult to use. The next morning we noticed the bathroom sink was backing up. We reported both issues to the front desk. Needless to say, neither of these issues were fixed before our departure. 09/25/2020 we decided to give the hotel another try. This time, when we entered our room, I used the restroom and closed the rolling door; noticing it was extremely difficult to shut. After I completed, I tried to roll the door to the left and I was stuck in the bathroom for a short time. I finally got the door opened. We noticed previous guest had damaged the sliding door and we had to relocate to another room. On 09/25/2020 visit, the manager immediately brought us new room keys to another room. We were thankful for his help. In closing, none of this was the end of the world and we had a nice stay. I’m more or less righting this review to have engineering and housekeeping tighten up their responsibilities. …
The stay started great. I was upgraded to a suite as a Platinum elite member. They also provided a $10 daily Platinum credit for the convenience center and for Starbucks drinks. I wondered if they would still offer that benefit due to COVID. The Bistro was closed. The room was large and met my needs quite well for a week long stay. My room was pretty quiet. The bed was comfortable. I'm very happy that they honored the preferences I made when making the reservation by giving me extra pillows and towels. It seems like most Marriott's I stay at don't bother to look at my preferences. There was plenty of free parking. Note that there is currently not an airport shuttle (maybe it's due to COVID, but I'm not sure). Other hotels directly surrounding the Courtyard are still offering a shuttle, so I'm not sure what the deal is with that. The hotel is within 15-20 minute walking distance to the A train that takes you downtown or the airport. Now for the negatives (most of these are small). 1. The windows were not locked and I could hear air coming through. It took a little bit of jiggling around, but I was finally able to close them. While I was over there, I noticed the windows were filthy. There was black dirt on the inside edges and the outside of the windows need a good cleaning as well. Not a big deal, but the little things get noticed. 2. I'm also not sure how clean the carpet was. The bottom of my socks got kind of dirty after a day of walking on it. 3. The tv remote for one of the tvs wasn't working properly. I managed to make it work. Once again, a small thing. 4. The mini fridge didn't work, so I had to request a new one. The issue was dealt with pretty quickly. 5. I had an issue on check out day with the daily $10 food & beverage credit for being an elite member not being applied. The first person I spoke with early in the morning said that because the Bistro was closed, they weren't doing the $10 credit. They said it didn't apply to the convenience center. This directly went against what I was told at check in. Luckily, I went down later in the morning to speak with someone else and they gladly adjusted the bill to account for the daily credit. Please make sure your staff members are informed of the current policy. 6. Lastly, they don't have a separate person making Starbucks drinks in the morning, so a front desk person has to make it. I felt bad because it took them away from front desk duties when there wasn't another person working. To their credit, the front desk person was always willing to make the drink. Overall, I would definitely stay at this hotel if I was in the area again (especially for the exceptionally low rate I got).…
I want to first compliment the front desk professionals Jordan and Ruth. They both went out of their way to help me with several requests. Their desire to exceed expectations was most appreciated. The hotel and especially the bathroom was very clean. Heating and cooling were very responsive. Also, I had a great Americano, better than a Starbucks operated store. We will return.
My family and I stayed in a lovely suite here which was really nicely updated with 2 very large tvs, comfortable beds and couches and a very nice little wet bar / mini fridge. Two issues with the hotel. First, the infrastructure seemed old. When we arrived the heat in the room didn’t work. Even with the thermostat on 85 it only blowed cold air. To the hotels credit they sent up maintenance who fixed it right away but it was still colder than the thermostat even after the fix. The unit was very loud so much so that it was difficult to sleep. And the bathroom “barn” door creaked like crazy which isn’t an issue unless you try to use it in the middle of the night when the rest of the family is asleep. Second issue is staff. The toilet backed up several times even with nothing in it. No one answered at the front desk and by 8 pm there was only one person on staff. So I had to deal with that myself. That is crazy that they only staff a large hotel with one person. Not acceptable. …
