Upon entry the room looked clean and modern. Their was a fold out couch, desk, Queen sized bed, fridge, microwave, tv, large window with blinds, chest of drawers, and bench/seat. The furnishings were modern and stylish as well as clean! The bathroom was modern and clean as well. I especially liked the shampoo, conditioner and body wash station which was mounted in the shower and refillable by hotel staff! This is great for the environment and helps the hotel keep prices down for guests. I did my normal cleanliness inspection with my white gloves and there was no dust on surfaces. The shower sink and floors were cleaned thoroughly. I love the laminate flooring because it’s great for people with allergies or pets. I have a ADA service dog and no one gave me any grief about her. Even though it’s illegal many places give a hard time &/or refuse them anyway. The window was cleaner than any other hotels I’ve stayed at this year! The air filter has been cleaned before we arrived and after prior customer, which I know because I always take the filter out after unpacking at each and every hotel and almost always the filter is full of dust. That always tells me hope thoroughly the hotel cleaned and follows the cdc’s new Covid protocols!! Since I am high risk if I catch Covid it is important to me to be up to date on cdc, who, and all scientific information on the virus. This is why I comment on the various aspects of cleanliness especially those that affect likelihood of catching Covid. Such as cleanliness of room, air filter cleanliness, type of heating and air conditioning ( central means air moves faster from one room to another thus spreading germs quicker versus room units that pull air from outside into the heat or cooling area then put into the room). This room has the safer room unit that pulls fresh from outside. The window opened albeit only slightly. With Covid upon us it’s better to be able to air your room fully each day as the cdc suggests every room in every home be aired completely each day!! I wasn’t able to watch the cleaning protocol to see if the staff used fans to completely change out the dirty air in the room between guests. This requires fans to do in a timely manner and Windows that open fully help too! The pool was for use by guests in the same room via 45 minutes of time with time between guests left for staff to clean. I didn’t see if staff actually cleaned or not between guests, but the area was pretty much free of touchable surfaces so there wasn’t anything to clean except the towel rack, light switch, and door knob. As always holiday inn staff was professional, helpful, and friendly.

You earned a 1 star review because your grumpy breakfast host on January 16th at 8 am told me to get a stupid mask on while there was a dozen people NOT social distancing eating without masks all around me. I won’t be staying here ever again! Have a nice day!

Dear rulonm2021, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you were unhappy with your stay. We currently are following guidance from state and local levels per the covid-10 pandemic and are advising all guests that they need to wear a mask in the common areas of the hotel. Guests who are eating breakfast while sitting, do not need the masks on.We feel it is important to do what we can to reduce the spread of the virus and the hotel is following all IHG and local policies regarding this. Again, I am very sorry that you were upset and I will use your comments to coach the team. Thank you. Alex Stevens GM-COSAA

Perfect room for families. Had a king with a little alcove that contains the bunk bed. They replaced the standard table with a mini picnic table for the little ones. My only complaint is that the TVs weren’t set up to be used. It wS like they were recently installed. I was too tired to complain while we were there, but the 4 year old was a little upset.

Since I am an IHG reward member I have stayed at multiple Holiday Inn Express locations and I just assumed this one would be up to the standards of others, but sadly we were disappointed. I don't know if they realized but they put us in a room that must have had recently undergone renovations but our room still had painting that was not yet completed! Some walls had two colors on the same wall (room #1418). Our stay wasn't over any holiday either and I am pretty sure they were not over booked. The bathroom had been renovated and it was new and clean looking. The beds were okay too. The room was above the pool and there were a lot of little kids playing so loudly in the indoor pool that it echoed up into our room, two floors up! We went down to the pool and it is very small and was crowded with the same loud kids, both in the pool and the hot tub. I know that is not the fault of the hotel but it was still annoying. There were no clean pool towels either so we had to track down some room towels. The breakfast was good considering it was included in the price of the room but honestly I would have rather had a less expensive room because the one we were in did not meet the expectations of the price they were getting. I would probably stay in a different Holiday Inn next time but we liked the idea of having the indoor pool which was a let down in the end. The best thing I can say about our stay was that the front desk ladies were very friendly and cheerful.

Hi Kelly C, I'm glad you choose our hotel for your visit to Colorado Springs. Thank you for staying. At Holiday Inn Express, we pride ourselves in offering simple pleasures for every trouble. I am sorry we missed the mark. I understand you had concerns with our pool, hot tub, and pool towels. I can see how that put a damp on your stay. I also read that you were unhappy with the current renovations at the hotel. No worries, I did inform our management about this. I'm confident they will make the necessary action to make sure this won't happen again. On a lighter note, I'm glad you find the bathroom clean, bed comfortable, breakfast good and our front desk was friendly and cheerful. We appreciate you leaving feedback about your stay, and looking forward to your next travel. Rein D Case Manager IHGService
