I was able to stay in general Palmer’s room, and I felt like I was sleeping in a museum. I even had to take off the velvet ropes to go into the room. As a guest you were able to walk around the grounds and castle at a leisurely pace. Dinner is served to go, but you can choose to eat in the dining room if you want to. I got the chicken supreme that was very good along with the sautéed cauliflower and butternut squash. For the appetizer I got the ricotta gnocchi w blue cheese, that was a bit too strong for me. It’s snowing outside now, so I won’t be able to do any walking around in the morning. Darn it, I’ll have to come back.
We are Springs residents who enjoy a wonderful home in the mountains, but desired a night away without traveling too far. If you are in a retreat-frame of mind, this destination is superb. The grounds are sensational, the castle is amazing and the facilities exude an old-fashioned charm that is tough to find anywhere else. There's no TVs or big screens, hot tubs or swimming pools (and we can enjoy those amenities), but Glen Eyrie offers other things - like peace and quiet and timelessness. We've traveled all across the country, lots of places around the world, and Glen Eyrie ranks up with the best. Of a dozen posts or so, this is probably my 1st 5-star rating. Glen Eyrie might not be a spot for the kids, but its superb for thoughtful, reflective adults or couples seeking time close together (without the interruptions of day-to-day life).…
My 15 year old daughter and I were traveling through Colorado Springs. She had just mentioned how she would love to live in a castle on the side of a mountain some day and I just looked to see what was in Colorado Springs for fun! Glen Eyrie came up! We arrived late, 8pm, and we didn't see another guest all night. We explored the castle for secret passages and unique things--We had a blast!!! It was like we had the castle all to ourselves. Our queen bedroom was beautifully appointed. It was like stepping back in time without having to do without modern conveniences. This is definitely a place to take ANY young girl with an imagination and an adventurous spirit. We made some awesome memories and we were only there until noon the next day. We would love to go back and have tea and hike and enjoy the grounds more.…
My wife and I stayed in room 207 one of the Generals daughters rooms it was a beautiful king suite with a wonderfully set up room. the grounds are breathtaking. I cant wait to come back in springtime to see the rose garden at its full beauty
Beautiful building and grounds. Friendly staff. Great history. There are a lot of old pictures and artifacts on display. Very quiet with Turkeys and Big horn Sheep moving around. Tours are available and they have a coffee shop/grill and book store.
