An excellent choice for an overnight, or two, in the Colorado Springs/Monument, CO area. Very quiet. Helpful staff. And, close to many various restaurants. Needed a place to stay during a golf tournament in Monument
This Fairfield has a very good staff and we were welcomed upon arrival. The staff follow the Marriott mantra of greeting the guest at every opportunity. Too bad the state has instituted the COViD mask requirement because we had to wear a mask whenever in the hotel. And that requirement made the hotel shutdown the dining area and the good breakfast the chain is known for. In order for guests to congregate with family and friends we had to go outside by their gas fire pit which was okay but they need to institute a curfew as our room was right above it and people were there past 1am on Friday through Sunday. It was noisy. The breakfast and the coffee were subpar. The room was clean, but the couch in the room smelled of human perspiration.
The check-in process was smooth. The room was average because you can tell it hasn't been updated. Dusty and lots of wear and tear. Breakfast non-existent. I did like that they offered coffee. When I was checking out early, the night auditor was nowhere to be found so I had to call the hotel and she magically appeared. The desk should be staffed when people are in the lobby. She also wasn't doing the breakfast at the moment, so I don't know what was going on. The price is too high for the quality of the hotel. Wouldn't stay again.
Before staying here I read the reviews which were mostly positive. While they do offer a grab & go breakfast, they DO not make up the rooms. My husband found this out when he had to go pick me up from work and noticed that the room hadn’t been cleaned and it was 5:30 pm. He stopped at the front desk and they explained that due to COVID, they didn’t do any cleaning for overnights. (We stayed 2 nights). When he asked about clean towels, they said they’d bring some up. An hour & a half later when we returned from dinner, we still had no clean towels. After calling the front desk, they brought them up. When we aren’t getting full service, they shouldn’t be charging us the full price of $139 per night!
Even in these crazy times, the staff had friendly greetings and wanted to ensure we had a wonderful stay. We were provided with great meal recommendations and were pleasantly surprised when we were able to have a grab and go breakfast when most hotels aren’t offering breakfast service. Between the extremely helpful staff and beautiful views, we will be coming back to this hotel the next time we are in Colorado Springs!
