The hotel has underground parking, ski in (via the back door) and our room had great views of the mountains. A short walk in to town with the main street and restaurants (10 mins) Nice size living room with sofa/bed and separate bedroom. As there...More
Keep coming back to Mountain Thunder - location, location, location. Being able to ski to the back door down four o'clock and then kick off you skis and you are home is awesome. Then when ready for evening dinner/drinks, its just a quick cut across...More
Stayed in a newly remodeled 3 bedroom townhome for a girls weekend and had a wonderful time. It is close to downtown, the slopes and pool. The on demand shuttle was a great feature when some of the girls wanted to go home early or...More
Skiing home at the end of the day is amazing, it is located right off 4 O'Clock Trail and you can ski directly to the main lodge. Getting on the mountain is easy as well, it is a 5 minute walk to the gondola (access...More
Excellent location for skiing and town. The shuttle is very convenient. Underground parking is a plus, but you really don't need a car everything is so close. Front desk very nice and helpful. Wonderful experience.

This is Bill--not Ann. Somehow trip advisor got my wife's email address. Probably my mistake. On to your question. I had never stayed at a lodge before my recent trip to Colorado. We did not rent a car, and I am glad about that. The weather would have challenged my driving abilities. The lodges have free shuttles to get you just about anywhere you want to go, and the intervals between buses stopping at your lodge are usually around 20 minutes. We experienced very little wait in getting our shuttle from the airport to our lodge. Just make sure you know where to go in the airport to get check in to the shuttle service. We inadvertently went right outside and then discovered that we had to check in at a counter inside the airport. Setting things up ahead of time is a good idea. Colorado Mountain Express, Peak 1, and Peak 2 are reliable and responsible. Others are, too, I'm sure.
