We booked here because of its history but the place is clearly trading on its name. The hotel is absolutely run down and old with stains and chips throughout the rooms.
Firstly, the photos of the suite we booked were completely different to the suite...More
Incredibly quaint Luxury Boutique Hotel. Creatively kept secluded from all the Hollywood Hype. The Old Hollywood Decor is glamorous. The service is perfection. The Restaurant hidden in an oasis garden is superb. The Bar Marmont is perfect for a Champagne Cocktail. This is the perfect...More
I had this on my bucket list for years but there was never availability when I made visits to LA....but....finally I scored a room pre-Christmas 2018. I made the mistake of reading some TA reviews that described the hotel as old and decrepit and the...More
The history in this hotel is the best reason to come. The well maintained aesthetic isn't just reminiscent of 1929, it is literally from 1929. Noemie and Amy take care of our needs during all visits and we definitely take advantage of the concierge service....More
Was looking forward to visit this iconic LA institution only to be welcomed by a very rude hostess. Service at the patio restaurant was the biggest disaster I’ve seen in a long time. Food took forever, orders came wrong for 3 guests out of 5...More

It wasn’t being renovated when I was there last month, but may well be, perhaps give them a call
The lobby is behind bar / lounge so if celebs are not in bar you can watch lobby from a comfy chair with drink in hand! Enjoy !

Stop in and certainly have a drink or better yet, breakfast or lunch. Have dinner around 7Pm and linger in the lobby lounge. Be mindful of the code of the Chateau, there is no photography permitted in the restaurant or lounge or lobby area. Doing so will give you stern looks and possibly a request to leave, plus it will identify you as "not belonging" or as an outsider to the culture. Once you are within the confines of Chateau Marmont, you DO belong because you ARE there. Act like it and blend. Be cool, no gawking or gushing. And for goodness sakes, do NOT approach anyone you might think is a star, celebrity or VIP. Remember yourself. Soak in the ambiance and the history and savor it.
