The rooms were, overall, comfortable and clean. The bathroom in our room had some issues: there was zero counter space and minimal water flow in the shower. The room did not have air conditioning, which was a comfort issue at night since only one of two windows could be opened. The small refrigerator worked but was noisy. We found the hotel's location very convenient for touring the area.
This is a beautiful inn with modern beach style rooms and an incredible garden to relax in. It is really thoughtfully taken care of and designed. It’s a personal place, not corporate aesthetic, much better. Owner really tries to make it nice. Next to beach and Park Cafe. You’ll love it. Much less expensive than AirBnB with all its fees.
Stayed in an upstairs queen room in the main building. The room had a gas fireplace, mini fridge, coffee maker, large closet, DVD player, and table with 2 chairs. The room was more spacious than expected from the photos. Nice bedding and cozy room. Great location - just across the road from the Dipsea trailhead and approximately one block from Stinson beach, Parkside eateries, the Stinson Beach grocery store, and Matt Davis trailhead. Everything was walkable. Would definitely stay here again, but maybe next time in one of the cute cottages that has a kitchen. The little garden in the back was beautiful and had an outdoor shower. Beach chairs were also available for use. The only cons of our room were that walls seemed a little thin and the bed could have been firmer. If you stay in one of the upstairs rooms, suggest requesting one at the end of the walkway for more privacy.…
Disclaimer -- I stayed here in January, so I can't speak to a summer experience when things are more crowded and all the units are in use. I really enjoyed my stay at the Sandpiper. My unit was very comfortable and cute -- designed in a combination of modern/Ikea and 1950's retro. Fantastic location within close walking distance to town and beach. Free parking. My unit had a main room (with bed and fireplace), a separate bedroom, a kitchen, and a bathroom. A few issues: (1) There were some tiny ants in the bathroom; (2) When the next-door-neighbors ran their shower, it was incredibly loud; (3) There is a shared wooden walkway to some of the units that presents both a noise and a privacy issue.
We stayed here for one night in an upstairs Queen room. The room had a fridge for convenience that we utilized. It was a quiet stay with just the sound of the waves audible at night. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion amenities smelled great! We loved being able to borrow DVDs from the front desk for free. The room has free Wifi but a poor connection but that's OK because the trip was to unplug and connect with nature. The bed was extremely comfortable and the pillows and comforter were perfect. I had the best nights sleep here. The fireplace in the room was cute and necessary as it was very cold here in January. It's a little expensive but we would stay here again.
The cabin was clean and comfortable. We had #10 which overlooked the garden and included a bedroom and kitchen space. It worked nicely for three people. the parking is great on busy weekends and it is just a street over to go to the Parkside Cafe and two over to get to the main street. No one wants to drive those roads at night!
Such a comfortable stay! I LOVED our cottage. Everything was well thought out and cozy. Lots of home away from home amenities. The outdoor space is great too, with lounge chairs and tables. Steps from the beach and great restaurants. Water pressure in the shower was low, but that was my only concern. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
The rooms and cottages at Sandpiper are my favorite place to get away to with friends, family or a romantic overnight! It is clean, tastefully decorated and so comfortable. I love the garden for reading a good book, grilling dinner or relaxing with friends. My favorite Tam hiking trail is easily accessible and the beach is a short stroll away. Nothing could be better! Always a great escape!
We had a two bedroom and one bath cottage. It was super cute and well appointed. Gave it a 4 because the floors are uneven so you feel like you are on a boat. Loved the location. Super close to the beach. We also liked the pretty courtyard. Great place to relax and hang out with friends.
We stayed recently for a midweek two day excursion and could not be happier to have ended up here. We had not heard of Sandpiper Lodging before, and didn't know what to expect so we were very pleasantly surprised to find a sparkling clean, well appointed room in mid-century decor, amazing linens, super comfy bed, and a staff that is very welcoming and friendly, Our stay was a total delight and we cannot wait to return.
