Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Homeless people sleeping in the parking lot. Someone tried entering our room at night. Weekly and monthly scum tenants playing loud music, drinking, yelling and screaming well past midnight. The office won’t answer the phone and the message machine is full. The non smoking rooms reek of cigarette smoke and other unidentifiable sells. I’ll sleep in my car before I stay here again.

Arrived with my family at 7pm for reserved room. Was told that they rented it to someone else but could put the kids on the floor and have a room with single King. Room said non-smoking, but it reaked of smoke. Could not turn around in the room, not sure where on the floor kids could sleep. The place is a dump! Give this place a pass and go 10 minutes down the road to Columbia Inn.

Booked this stay very last minute and we were very lucky to get a room. This room was perfect for the rate and what I expected from the lodge. The room was old but it was as clean as it possibly could be and the check in and check out process was super easy. Also booked the stay due to the proximity to downtown Sonora and it was only a 5 to 6 minute walk to the main street. It isn't far from a casino and short drive to the ski slopes. Don't expect much and appreciate it for what it is and you will enjoy your stay. There was plenty of hot water in the shower!

Electricity comes on or goes off at random. Furniture is Salvation Army rejects. Table won't even hold up a dinner plate. Floors are falling apart. AC is hanging loosely in the wall. Toilet runs constantly. Bath mat was stolen from Holiday Inn ! Door locks don't really work, Bathroom window is NOT lockable and if opened is just an open hole to the back yard! Electric outlets have failed so every appliance including the frig is plugged into a ONE power strip! SO called table lamp between the beds is falling apart, loose and wobbly and only works occasionally.Staff is NON existent! Lobby is so smokey I choked! Breakfast is one dry cereal, milk, OJ, coffee and old stake cookies! Worst coffee on earth! STAY here at your own risk. SO far, none of us are sick. Oh, the "suite" is just one room with two queen beds. Definitely NOT a suite!

Booked this room last minute to see a concert at nearby Black Oak Casino. Buddy & I figured "all we're gonna do is sleep there, so wtf." The only positive was that the sheets & bathroom were clean. Room had slight musty/mold smell. Two beds yet only one set of towels so I had to go get a second set. When in office I noticed the breakfast area. Uh, one small coffee pot. I also could see in the back the commercial laundry machines. Bed was horrible. Super spongy soft and it sagged. I didn't dare sit on the couch as it looked old and in same condition as bed. And the place was super expensive IMO. Granted, it was Labor Day weekend, and a concert night, but it totaled over $160 for a two bed room.

This hotel has been known for junkies staying. So, I hope that alone make sure you don't stay here. There was puke on the curtain and the walls. The beds were gross and hard. The A/C/heater was noisy as heck. There were shards of broken glass by the bed. The toilet wouldn't flush. There were dead bugs on the ceiling. When we requested our money, the lady only gave us half and then pocketed the other half. Just go to the Sonora Inn, it's cheaper and clean.

Stayed 12/29/18 for 2nights mainly due to last minute availability to get away and to visit the Sierras for a bit of snow (plus everything dog friendly was booked). Chosen due to being dog friendly and ease of access to hwy 108 and various other sights. We have stayed before on long road trips but have never really found it to be ideal, other than price & staff being uber friendly, kind and generous. We were placed in a room behind the motel. Convenient to unpack and park. Outside there was a 'parked' car (with 4 flats & cobwebs, obviously not moved for a while) & further down a pick up parked which looked like a homeless truck, full to the brim, hood slightly ajar as though being worked on, car parts under it.... The rooms closest to this truck seemed to have 'permanent' residents in them (or so it seems). Somewhat loud as folks decided to chat outside their rooms at 2300 hrs, (not unusual for motels) having a beer, but without concern for other guests. Walking the dogs we came across a guy sitting on a patch of grass at the back of the motel drinking beer (early a.m.) friendly, but we felt uncomfortable. Again walking the dogs in the a.m. a female was overheard yelling at her partner in a room, then came outside to question us re whether "we could hear those women speaking", there were no other people present at the time of her asking ..... it was like experiencing a mini psych unit. Over all it was just an uncomfortable atmosphere. The room was basic, VERY basic, which seems to be the case for most pet parents. Plus you get the privilege of paying for your dog(s) to stay but with absolutely no amenities for them. The room did have coffee, microwave and fridge, the bed had sheets (one stained) one blanket and a small decorative strip of material at the foot of the bed, but was small for us all. First impression was it’s ok but on further inspection not so. Please see PHOTOS ... front desk check in was helpful and only charged us for one night versus two,for our 4 medium size doggies, and we were very appreciative of that. Location is good.

The rooms are in a bad shape, Got an electric shock when I wanted to upload my cellphone. The hotelkeeper is very friendly - felt sorry for her because she has to run such a bad place. If you want to stay in Sonora choose one of the hotels located downtown. Sonora is a very cozy town.

So there was a coroner's investigation sticker sealing the door to the room next to ours ... Not a sign of a good hotel!!! DIRTY, DIRTY, DIRTY!!! I slept on my sleeping bag!!! I cannot believe they charge that much money for rooms that are literally in disrepair from floor to ceiling!!! AND $20 for a pet? What could they possibly ruin? Gangs, prostitution and drugs!! Don't stay here!!!
