Lovely breakfast and happy hour spread, fabulous wine, comfy bed. But don’t tell Karen any inclusive liberal views unless you’re prepared for being berated for trusting in grace, accepting diverse viewpoints, and loving all people. Her last night attack on my spouse’s viewpoint kind of ruined the two beautiful days we’d had
My in-laws came to town to visit and booked a room here. There was a fire hazard. It was absolutely filthy. There were candy wrappers and a half eaten cookie on the floor. Hair and blood stains on the sheets. There was two oil heaters and one of them had no legs and was leaning up against the wall very close to the drapery. Fire hazard. When my father-in-law walked back to the office to tell them that the room wasn't okay, an older woman with blonde hair yelled at him in front of two other customers claiming he was insulting her hotel. We luckily found them another place.
We stayed for a couple of nights for a quick visit to the Sonoma area. The Inn was wonderful. Larry and Karen are extremely welcoming (as is their dog Bo), we felt like we were visiting family. We arrived in time for a complimentary glass of wine and extensive snacks in the evening and greatly enjoyed the home-cooked breakfasts each morning, especially the lemon-blueberry coffee cake and the danishes. The room had everything we needed though the bathroom is in need of updating and could use a couple of more shelves. The location is extremely convenient to downtown Sonoma. We also enjoyed the opportunity to meet other guests at breakfast each morning. We would definitely stay again.
The inn is very well situated for exploring Sonoma and its locality, despite being on a bend on a busy road. The breakfasts, served by amiable young staff members, are a delight and the "happy hour " where appetisers and a glass of wine are served is a nice inclusion. The inn could do with an element of renovation but nevertheless is very clean.
I stayed here with my mom for 3 nights and enjoyed it! We stayed in the Ellington room, which is on the first floor of the house. No complaints--the breakfasts each morning were delicious and we loved waking up to the smell of tasty food. The B&B itself is in a really nice spot--easy to get to Sonoma Plaza. You also get a winery passport which saves you $ on tastings--a nice perk! We would definitely stay here again.
Stayed here for 2 nights and it was wonderful. Karen and Larry made you feel so at home with gorgeous home cooking, wine and cakes in an afternoon and a hot cooked breakfast to set you on your way! It was a pleasure to have met such a professional, caring and attentive couple. A must if you visit Sonoma!
Perfect location for a day, week or longer visit to Sonoma. Minutes to many wineries and the "plaza." Karen and Larry are the most gracious hosts you can find. Breakfast options are TOP NOTCH with Karen's baking skills. From perfect creme puffs to napoleon's, belgian waffles to Eggs Benedict - you will NOT be disappointed. A bonus is the daily "Happy Hour" from 4:30-5:30 with complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres. Rooms can use some freshening up but are very comfortable. Found the prior reviews on street traffic noise not a real issue. The "Ms. Holiday" room has special access to the patio area - a real nice feature, and a large bathroom. Can't imagine another visit to Sonoma without a stay here. Note that the doors are locked from 11-3 daily for cleaning so new check in not available during those hours. If you have checked in though you have a key and can come and go as you want. Best wishes for continued success to K&L, and of course their very furry dog Beau.…
The property was clean and nice, but it really needs some renovation. The bathtub was not accessible and you had to climb over to get into it. Breakfast was great. It was night by the time I got there and it was really hard to find. The caretaker was great and ended up helping find it by standing outside.
Easily our favorite stay ever at a B&B! The rooms are lovely, but what we really enjoyed was the food and the hospitality of the staff, particularly Karen. We stayed for two nights, and the two breakfasts were delicious and varied - very fresh fruit, homemade pastries (warm cheese danish one day, blueberry/lemon coffee cake the next day), eggs any style with ham/potatoes, then creme brulee french toast that was amazing, with bacon & eggs. We had no lunch either day due to the quantity and quality of the breakfast. Karen also catered to other guests with gluten issues, making a custom breakfast (that she had us taste) that was outstanding! In addition, the staff hosted a wine and cheese (but really much more than cheese, fruit/pastry/dips) early evening reception. This was also delicious and we enjoyed meeting the other guests and getting to know Karen & Larry. As long as the staff stays the same, we would never stay anywhere else in Sonoma! As an added bonus, we were provided a wine passport, that provided 2 for 1 wine tastings at over 25 wineries.…
This is a wonderful place to stay in a charming inn, well situated in easy walking distance of central Sonoma. The staff were fantastically friendly, the rooms were very clean and breakfast (+ other snacks/drinks) was delicious. It is quite an old building and so doesn't quite have all the modern trappings, but is more the special for it. We were only there for 1 night - but would have loved to have stayed longer. We felt very welcomed and would happily return.
