This hotel is somewhat of a hidden Gem. It is located right in the heart of Solvang between a pub and art gallery. Our stay (boyfriend and I) was amazing. The hotel was clean and very well organized. We had no issues checking in our out. All you have to do is follow the checkin instructions that are sent via email carefully. The room was so comfy and there was so many cute amenities. I would for sure stay at this same hotel. Hopefully soon. I highly recommend this place.
Very hip, well appointed, clean accommodations in a charming building. Great location and easy contactless check in and check out. The complimentary coffee, water, and local chocolates were a nice touch. Highly recommend!
Arrived for a 1 night stay. Shower was clearly not cleaned — hair everywhere, shampoo/conditioner/soap everywhere as well. I called to let them know and no one came to clean it. Additionally, the sink broke and it was too late at night to have someone fix it so we managed by ourselves. Was a huge bummer because the property was super cute and in a great location!
Great rooms and fun place to stay overnight. Wednesday nights there can be farmers market by the hotel which makes parking a challenge. Overall the room we stayed in (double king beds) was very nice and spacious.
For $ 450.00 that I paid per night at the Winston, I expected something more special. I ask for a room with a balcony my view was looking at the parking lot. Solvang is very expensive. I will think twice before I go back.
The Winston is a beautiful hotel with modern features and on-site parking in Central Solvang next to the main square of the city and the main shopping street. My wife and I enjoyed staying there enormously.
We liked the photos we saw on the internet (hotel web site). Initially we were put off by the fact that there was no front desk and that we had to use a “code” and a touch pad to enter the hotel building and our room. After entering the hotel and our room we were impressed with the furnishings and the spaciousness and cleanliness of our room. We look forward to returning in the future.
This was our second stay. It is now our favorite hotel in all of Santa Ynez Valley while visiting Santa Barbara wine country. The rooms have beautiful character with stunning decor. Extremely clean, with the most comfiest beds! Spacious bathroom with a luxurious shower. Loved the view of the park from our balcony, and the convenient location to everything. Highly recommend!
This hotel doesn't clearly outline what the say will really be like. They use vague language if any on their website to let you know you are in a ghost town of a hotel with only guests and no staff, then they send you check-in instruction that are also lacking and then let yo uknow you will be cleaning everything your self and have a basket you can leave if you need amenities. THey never once responded to a text or e-mail which they say is how to contact them if you need anything. THere is clearly cameras everywhere (outside the rooms) and occupancy sensors. It felt more like an Airbnb than an hotel and if I wanted to lug my bags, get lost on a property finding check in, have not staff around and feel alienated, never have my room turned down or cleaned, have a hard time sleeping because the shades don't actually go all the way down and every single thing rattled all day and all night, then I would have stayed home or saved money and stayed at an airbnb. Especially for $600 per night. They tried to do a stylize room and I was happy with their bathroom. They shower was without glass so it was cold in the bathroom when taking shower and the floors are marble tile which are beautiful, but unheated with no glass just means a cold time. There was ample space but a wasteful use, in a bathroom that could have a tub there was nothing and for the main suite I find this odd. The bedroom only had one nightstand and they could have fit two which was no big deal, but in a suite and a room that should be their best, it's lacking. …
The room itself was charming, large, and clean. Clearly much attention had been put into the design and decor of each room, with unique seating areas and wall art. Our room was large and had a balcony facing Solvang Park, I think it was the only room of its kind and we were grateful to have it. The location is fabulous as we were within easy walking distance to everything Solvang had to offer. We did leave for one morning to go on a hike and had no trouble leaving and coming back. There were a few shortfalls. The property boasts its "contact free" experience as a positive, however I'm sure this is just a fancy way of not having to pay for staff to man a front desk. We could have used a real person on-site upon arrival especially. When we arrived we could not find the entrance and wandered around with our bags. Thankfully we happened to pass a friendly housekeeper who showed us the very inconspicuous gate and elevator. During our stay, I also noticed a lack of attention to basics: no full length mirrors inside the room, only one towel hook in the whole bathroom, and a fan that was inadequate for the size of the bathroom. The bed was terribly uncomfortable (it was way too firm) and the pillows were probably some of the worst pillows I've ever seen. They were flat, floppy and useless.I got very little sleep both nights. Also, both mornings I woke up very stuffy and with a terrible sinus headache. I wonder if the HVAC needs to be cleaned, as my symptoms immediately resolved upon leaving the room. Overall we don't regret choosing the Winston because of the location, balcony, and cleanliness of the room. However, it is not a good value considering lack of staff, necessary amenities, and the discomfort I experienced. I hope some of these issues can be resolved for future guests.…
