If you want loud, glitzy and shiney, Shutters is next door. These are the only two choices if you want to be directly on the beach. Being on the beach in Santa Monica is great for the walking and bike paths as well as the sand and ocean and sunsets. You can walk from one end of Santa Monica through...

Situated on a quieter stretch of beach front between the Santa Monica pier and muscle beach, Casa Del Mar offers luxury on a prime tourist location, without the crowds. The main room is grand and the welcoming staff accommodating. The feeling of grandeur comes from the main room, a Gatsby size salon and restaurant where one can sip a cocktail...

Having stayed in Santa Monica a bunch of times and walked / run the beach I have noticed Casa (and Shutters) and wondered if they are "worth it". Answer = yes! Casa is lovely with comfortable well appointed rooms with charm. Sea shells, books on furniture you might find in a nice oceanfront home. Feels a bit like being a...

Old Hollywood ambiance, beautiful public spaces, excellent service. On the beach in Santa Monica, next to and related to the much larger Shutters, ....very well appointed rooms. Check out the bar and restaurant which overlook the ocean...A historic hotel, recently beautifully restored to all its glory. Highly recommend!

Great girls' weekend! The rooms were beautiful and loved the hotel lobby bar & lounge overlooking the ocean. The location is excellent. Only reason for 4* versus 5* is simply an underwhelming/small pool area... but who needs the pool with a beautiful beach right out the front doors?

This hotel is amazing; the decor is perfect. Location is great and the entire staff extreme guest friendly. I highly recommend staying here. The restaurants are excellent. Best part was afternoon Tea & coffee overlooking the beach AND sunrise breakfast.

Overall the hotel was good but our first impression of the hotel was ruined by the experience at the front desk when we checked in.A rather rude man made us feel very unwelcome and I'm afraid it affected our view of the whole hotel. We were on a rate of over $700 which was a lot for what we got in...

The staff was very helpful and kind. I felt at home and could completely enjoy my vacation. When I got a cold and had to stay in bed, the room service was fantastic and delivered quickly. I would absolutely stay here again.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
