On my recent stay in Santa Monica, stayed at The Ambrose for 4 nights. Pros: Lovely hotel. Nice continental breakfast with fresh fruit and pastries, bikes to borrow to ride around. Cons: The walls are so thin I can hear the conversation from the guests next door. There are children and it sounds like they are having a soccer game...

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 2 January 2017

This was a lucky pick...just read about it online. We were pleasantly surprised with the clean, modern rooms and guest amenities. Nice lounge and breakfast options. The location is away from the busiest areas, so it's quieter...not a lot of restaurant choices in walking distance, but many within a short drive. We would definitely recommend The Ambrose.

I've been staying at The Ambrose in Santa Monica since it was built (maybe more than 15 years ago!). They have finally finished their remodel and it's superb. The zen vibe is still there but the rooms are much brighter (especially the bathrooms). The beds are still comfy. The linens are wonderful. The breakfast has been improved and seating outside...

Arrived for a one night stay. Check-in was efficient and pleasant enough. Requested quiet room upon booking and was rewarded with a room away from elevator. Room was clean and nicely decorated in modern style. No balcony. Tasty, excellent quality continental breakfast. Pricey, but as it's in Santa Monica it's to be expected.

The lobby, lobby lounge (library), and common spaces are very nice. Comfortable atmosphere. I didn't expect a hotel like this to serve a complementary breakfast so that I was a nice surprise. Staff was friendly. The room was spacious and well appointed. The bathroom a bit small but fine for one person. This is a good hotel for a business...

Stayed here on a business trip recently and thought it was a good value. Very neat and clean, big rooms and quiet neighborhood. Pleasantly surprised by room size and decor. Decent breakfast buffet with healthy choices. Only knock on it is that they claim to have a bar, but it's really a tiny little bar that isn't staffed full time.

When we go to California, I always make it a point to stay at the Ambrose. It's clean, quiet and convenient. The breakfast is included and is really good. They will drive you to the shopping district whenever you want as part of their service free of charge. The Ambrose has been my "go-to" place for 5 years!

Our room at the Ambrose was spacious and well-appointed. The room had a large, comfortable armchair, and a true king-size bed with quality bedding. Another BIG plus was the underground parking, which was secure and well lit.

For holiday or business purposes alike. The only tiny flaw is the seating in the breakfast room. Not very comfortable and too few seats. That might be better in summer, when you can sit outside in the small garden. But the buffet is great.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
