I've stayed with family members in mixed dorm rooms in several of the cottage-style buildings and enjoyed it each time. The atmosphere is great: both the buildings and the people who share the space with you. Walking distance to the Santa Cruz boardwalk (amusement park rides). Finding parking can be a challenge

I really enjoyed this hostel in Santa Cruz, especially that i had nowhere to go when I got there. Everything was super clean and the staff was nice. It was a minute walk from the beach. The only thing I didn't like is that everyday day from 11 to 5 pm you had to leave the hostel so if you...

Really enjoyed staying here. Location is really close to the beach and also a short walk to downtown. Hostel was clean, room was great. The staff were really nice and helpful when I was needing anything. The only downside was you have no access in the middle of the day. There is also a 12pm curfew which didn't actually effect...

I think this is the cleanest hostel I have ever been. The bathroom and the shower were impecable, I was barefoot all the time! The room and bed were comfortable and there's even a living room in each cottage (there was one in mine at least). The staff is nice, specially the one who received us in the evening (I...

We booked 3 nights here at Carmelita Cottages and it is a lovely place to stay the staff are friendly and helpful. These historical cottages are homely, clean and comfortable. Beds are bunks 6 in our room with two toilets and a shower and separate bathroom. Clean sheets, pillowcase and towel are provided at check in. More blankets are available...

This HI Hostel is very well located, near Main Beach and staff is friendly. They have a smoking place outside, which is nice. Movie night was great, but crowded. I appreciated the fact that there was a lot of rooms available so I did not need to book in advance. Laundry machines are available for 2$. Collective kitchen is full...

I did not see on the website prior to booking that you are not allowed entry to the entire complex from 11am to 5pm regardless of whether you have booked 2 consecutive nights. No kitchen access and no access to any of your personal belongings! I returned at 4:58pm after a very long day of walking and sightseeing only to...

Pretty setting amongst clapboard cottages, fruit trees and a big cypress. Beds and room were basic but comfy and clean. Good shower and nice quiet sleep. No breakfast offered but super cheap so still good value and there are several nice places for breakfast nearby. We went to Zachary's which was great. Location is between the beach and downtown so...

Good location close to the beach and the Santa Cruz boardwalk. Unfortunately that's all that's good about this place. You're kicked out from 11am-5pm with the door codes changed every day. NO access to anything. Some would argue your in Santa Cruz why be in ur room all day but hey when your paying for a room and facilities why...

We booked this hostel for the location of it very close walking distance around Santa Cruz Boardwalk and some other tourist spots. The hostel itself is a bit different you are told when booking that the WHOLE place is closed from 11am-5pm that means no access to your room either by the way. There is a curfew at 12am and...
