From the room to staff At the time and location were great. They provide many little things that give us the warm and fuzzy feel. The stay was perfect until they over charged us by $221 USD. I can understand it may be a mistake, however when I ring up and told the person who answered the phone about our issue, she simple reply please talk to the manager tomorrow and she can’t help me. She did not even ask our name and what room and what was the exact problem. That was quite disappointing. We have lodge a report with booking.com who we booked through. Hopefully it will be resolve soon. Beside this mistake and the not very nice experience over the phone the hotel was good. …
We went to Santa Barbara for a family get away for the weekend we stayed there only one night September 14 ..this is the only place I found for a decent price and not too far from everything. The hotels by the ocean in Santa Barbara were toooo expensive for our budget. So I decided to give a try to this family owned hotel. I booked 3 rooms I think overpriced for the type of hotel. The rooms were smelly, the "air conditioning " is a wall mounted unit that was not working really good, it was like humid and smelly all the furniture including the beds are too old. The room itself is outdated. The outside is duty, The rooms inside were kind of clean but still smell bad. For the price I could stay somewhere else but I wanted to try this.. I will NOT go back or recommend to anyone.…
As I saw another reviewer write, it's not the worst place I've ever stayed...but stay elsewhere if you can. We stayed here because everywhere else reasonable in Santa Barbara was sold out for the night we were there. The rooms haven't been updated since this hotel was built in the '60s. They're clean but, well, yucky--I wouldn't walk around barefoot. Our room also smelled like an entire can of disinfectant had been sprayed, and no amount of running the air/keeping the windows open could fix it (we ended up checking out before 8am just to get away from the smell). It was also extremely expensive for a glorified motel--more than $300/night. The only positives are the location (super close to State Street but away from the noise) and the garden area.…
Close to downtown Santa Barbara and waterfront. Fine restaurants close by. Attractions like Santa Barbara Mission very close. The water front restaurants are a sea food bonanza. The whale watching cruises are fantastic, especially on the sailing boat Sunset Kidd.
Extremely poor customer service on check in and check out. Room was not ready on arrival and we were told to come back later. We were issues with a map and directions to our room that were not useful and had us ttrapsing round the hotel for 20 minutes - we bumped into the staff member who checked us in twice whilst looking for the room and he did not offer us help (on a cigarette break and had his feet up by the pool!). Check out was a similar affair with the three college aged students on their personal phones - unprofessional. I was advised that I hadn’t paid for my stay only a hold had been put on my card the day before. I asked for the Managers email which they struggled to locate. Maintenance issues with the room included non-working lights, dripping bath tap and loose lampshades that were hanging off. Would not stay again or recommend - have been in touch with management for a refund and await action.…
