Recently updated hotel with cool vibe, comfortable rooms, good bar/restaurant on premise, free parking and good location. Pillows and bed were quite nice. Usually you get little pillows where your head sinks right through it but these were big and supportive. Mobile keys, daily housekeeping if requested and easy in and out to town is makes this a perfect spot to stay.
We are Diamond Hilton people and have never stayed at a Tapestry hotel. Based on the hotels website and location next to Cal Poly, we were a tad concerned we’d be the oldest ones there. It comes off as hipster and may not have been our jam as a well over 40+ Couple. However, there were many families and people of all ages. We’ve never seen a hotel room with pictures up and down the wall, which actually was soothing to stare at. There is a small fridge, plenty of space and it’s decorated uniquely. We were in room 227. View was the parking lot and an neighboring building. It was surprising how loud the above neighbors walking was to hear below, so maybe try for the 3rd floor. There are vending machines for snacks and soda and ice on each floor. They do enforce the the mask rule, as is the counties requirement. They have some to give if you need them. Leroys is where you can eat all 3 meals. Only 4 of the self serve beer taps work but plenty more behind the bar. No hard alcohol but they make creative “drinks” with some form of “alcohol”. The small outside seating area has a giant scrabble board and giant litebright along with giant Jenna. Tons of board games available for use. Shuffleboard (but no sand- which makes it challenging to use), two skeeball games (you need to keep your own score), as well as a video game that play like 10 different games. Big screen TVs playing football in the morning. The gym is extra small. Matt’s, one bike, one tred and one elliptical. Bathroom in the gym and towels but no water to hydrate yourself with. Strange. Front desk very helpful and friendly. Restaurant was under staffed for a holiday weekend. Food was great but pricy.…
As others have noted, this appears to be a recently revamped older hotel. Loved the hip decor, free parking, location and sleep quality. We were in room 328 (mini suite) and found the decor on the ceiling fun. Were initially concerned that the diamond level breakfast was served at the attached Leroy’s restaurant. That restaurant had terrible reviews - but our breakfast was great. Must admit that they were short staffed, but their lattes, cappuccinos & breakfast burrito were excellent.
The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean but basically it felt like an attempt to make over an older motel. There were some whimsical and fun touches with free parking but the room had a connecting door to the adjacent room and poor sound insulation. Fortunately the people in the adjacent room were pretty quiet but you could still hear almost everything. Bed comfortable.
An expensive location, sold as boutique hotel which not. The building use to host a Holiday Inn. Hilton slapped a few pictuers on the wall but it felt like a cheap fascad. The service was polite, however I always had to hunt for front desk and restrunt personal who were bored and set in a corder with their nose deep in their phones. 12 days at $2,800 was not worth it.
My family and I stayed for three nights (13 Oct 2022- 16 Oct 2022) in two rooms for a local wedding/vacation. The entire property had a comfortable, casual feel to it. The rooms were clean and well-maintained. What really stood out was how nicely we were treated by the entire staff. Even though we chose to take advantage of checking in through the Hilton Honors app, we had to go to the front desk for extra room keys, and that's where we had our first taste of the warm hospitality of the staff. Chris treated us as if we were family, getting us the keys and letting us know of all the facility's amenities, activities in and around town, dining suggestions, etc. His friendliness was genuine, not rehearsed or contrived. He is a team member to be valued. What's great is many of the other team members were just as friendly and helpful as he was. Everyone in housekeeping without exception was willing to help or answer questions, even if it meant stopping their task to do so. No one seemed too busy to help. Kate at Leroy's (the hotel bar and grill) was also very friendly and helpful, making suggestions with menu choices. she was attentive to our needs and brought what we needed almost before we could even ask for them. She engaged us in easy conversation, making us feel at home. All in all, our family had a wonderful experience at the Kinney in SLO and are looking forward to returning soon.…
Was given a week and half expired hard boiled eggs no attempt of getting more eggs for the week even though I requested it. My room was average, wifi was pretty average to do my work. Sometimes no front desk personal is available.
We visited three hotels on this vacation to CA and this one definitely wins the award for the most enthusiastic and friendly staff, both at the front desk and the restaurant. My husband had his birthday and the breakfast staff made it special. We also liked the heated outdoor pool with the jacuzzi. The decor is very memorable and unique. We had never been to San Louis de Obispo before and the area was definitely worth the two night stopover on the way from SF to LA. Central Coast is so beautiful!
Although they were kind at the front desk, we had a lackluster experience at this hotel. When entering our hotel hallway, there was a strong smell… it almost smelled like a skunk. The room just didn’t feel clean—although they had hip images on the wall the property and bathroom felt dated and it was a depressing view outside our window to the parking lot. My expectations were high given the room rate! When I had originally booked this hotel we were paying $550 a night (via the hotel’s website for a one night Saturday night stay). Closer to the date I checked again and managed to get our rate at $370 a night (I cancelled our original reservation). This was still far too much given the lovely property we stayed near Yosemite and in Santa Monica that were just a bit more than this one. I’m just relieved it was a short overnight stay here.…
Looking forward to returning. Great service, fridge in room, bath tub, pool and gym (tiny, has a treadmill). Right in town. Walking distance to restaurants. Lots of parking near room. Overall I recommend this hotel.
