We enjoy staying in older independent motels that have been renovated and are well cared for. This one definitely fits that description. We were greeted at check in by a pleasant clerk at the office. I later had a nice conversation with rhe manager, Saul, about the history of the motel. It looks like it was built in the 1960's but has obviously been updated. Our room was well cared for and very clean. The rooms are smaller, similar to those in older motels, but very comfortable. It is an easy walk into town and very budget friendly. I highly recommend this motel!
Located just off the 101 freeway and an easy walk to downtown. Across the street from a gas station with a well-stocked food store. This is a traditional motel with outside room access from the parking lot or balconies. Rooms are clean. Remarkably, they still have daily housekeeping service, new clean towels and bed made daily. Adequate towels and amenities. Walls are a bit thin and on the first floor you can hear the people upstairs thumping. Fast free wifi, flat screen TV, fridge, microwave, good hot water supply. Plenty of parking. A big, well equipped gym across the street will let you work out for a nominal fee. A good choice, nothing fancy but it has everything you need
Friendly Intro to San Luis Obispo! Reception terrific and gave us a 2nd floor corner room … quiet. Rooms renovated + upgraded, spotlessly clean w fridge, microwave, table + couple chairs, big walk-in closet, mirrored counter - big, comfy room. Bathroom simple and nice w ample towels and bath products. Easy walk into town. Reasonably priced, which seems to be hard to find these days. Glad we stayed here!
Spotlessly clean, reasonable rates, and in walking distance to downtown, Farmer's Market, etc. Front desk gave a bunch of useful recommendations for places to go downtown. A really nice place for a getaway. I will be back.
This is a motel, not a Four Seasons. That said, it is clean, has comfortable beds, and is a short walk to everything downtown. I have stayed here probably a dozen time over the years. It is the best bang for the buck in SLO.
The room was a decent size, the bed comfortable, and I appreciated there were no small plastic bottles to toss after using shampoo, conditioner, lotion—the room has wall mounted containers of these items in the shower & sink area in the bathroom. Good water pressure (I had a 2nd floor room). Staff were friendly and were able to give me a 2nd floor room when I requested one at check-in. No breakfast (a good bakery the next block over), but coffee & tea available in lobby. One complaint would be the noise of the heater, but it’s an old style so probably can’t be helped. Warmed up the room then hopped in bed—wasn’t cold during the night. Overall a good one night stay, good price, and close to downtown shopping/restaurant area. I’d stay here again if in the area.
Very convenient location to downtown. About a 10 minute walk. Rooms are clean. Would definitely stay again. Parking was easy at the hotel and free. But, the hotel wasn't full when we were there. Hotel is just off the freeway as well so easy to get to.
This was our 1st stay at Avenue Inn and we were genuinely pleased. The bed was comfortable, it was clean, surprisingly priced reasonably, and parking was available right in front of our room. As for location, we couldn’t have asked for anything better. It was downtown and walking distance to everything!!!
One of the reasons I chose the Avenue Inn was the reviews for the good service. For me it didn't happen. I am almost 80 years old and arrived at the hotel at 12:40PM and the owner(yes, the owner) told me that to check in I had to pay 25 dollars extra, otherwise I would have to wait until 3PM. They had a room ready but they didn't have the slightest consideration. And besides, the hotel is nothing special; for the price bellow average, old and “suffocating”. If you want to be treated with some care go somewhere else.
Overall, a much better stay than I expected. The location is perfect - right off the freeway but very close to the old downtown with its many fun restaurants. Everything was clean, everything worked, the bathroom appeared to have a recent remodel. And I very much liked wall-mounted dispensers for soap and lotion and such rather than all the wasteful little bottles.
