The Wyndham Garden San Jose is a resort-style property with business amenities, located one mile east of the San Jose International Airport and 2 miles away from downtown, the Convention Center and HP Pavilion. The Winchester Mystery House, Great America and such companies as Ebay, Adobe, Intel, Cisco Systems, Fujitsu and Hitachi are all in the surrounding area. We are right in the heart of Silicon Valley.
This hotel was a decent price for the area so I stayed there last minute when my flight was delayed. I chose a trusted chain for a reason and this motel (not “hotel”!) didn’t hold up to the reputation. - Everyone at the hotel was polite and the room was clean. Those were the only positives. - The curtains didn’t cover the entire window so I slept feeling exposed. The blinds helped but let in a lot of light and I mad to manually brush my hand down them (dusty) to close because I wouldn’t find the wand.- Neither phone in my room worked so I had to call the front desk from my cell phone to make sure the shuttle was available in the morning- I had to walk a long distance, in the rain and in the dark, to my room outside of the motel. This is why I could tell it was a previously a motel, with some room renovations and a new name. Walking by, I could tell that many rooms up front were empty. If a female traveling alone clearly doesn’t have a car (took the shuttle in and out), DO NOT put them in the back of the building where they have to navigate a new hotel to find their room at night!- On the way to my room, there was a toilet sitting outside one of the room on the balcony that I was to squeeze past. Clearly you’re renovating or fixing something but to leave a toilet sitting outside all night look lower than I would expect from Whyndam standards.- I did not feel safe in my room, knowing that I was near the airport and likely people could see me sleeping in my room, alone.I would never stay here again and have recommended that my company not put people here.
Really nice rooms, great beds and pillows. Perfect fit a real restful night after a long flight to Costa Rica. The view is of more rooms, location near a highway but the room is quiet. Some of the staff really friendly and helpful. Quite good breakfast, not that good dinner... But we arrived late and most of the restaurants were not open anymore.
This is an older hotel and it shows. You should note that it has outside corridors, which are not that common in a hotel in this price range. I certainly wouldn't say it is the "most welcoming, well kept hotel in Silicon Valley unless your expectations are very low. Would not stay again.
It is the most disgusting hotel. The shuttle from the airport to the hotel was nasty, the room smelled, the chair in the restroom was bad, the security awful, noise level even worse ... believe me , DO NOT STAY, I checkout next day.
After explaining my misunderstanding of how cancellations work between my booking agent, Concur, and the hotel, the hotel General Manager emailed me back a very nice message and gave me a full refund. It was a positive experience to what could have been an otherwise stressful situation.
It's free while you are a guest. If you are traveling and later returning, you can leave your car for a fee ~$8-10/night. They have a shuttle to take you and pick you up from the airport that runs every 1/2 hour, all day.
