This hotel is just simply fantastic. Although it isn't the Four Season's Hotel, it is a very well maintained and historic place. I just got back from a stay there from 9/3/2022 to 9/12/2022 and was thoroughly impressed. The hotel is run essentially much like a bed and breakfast type of establishment. Due to COVID restrictions previously, this hotel does not have a front desk that you would normally check in to and instead, the instructions for key pin access are sent after you reserve a room and are ready to check in. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not open due to difficulty in obtaining workers due to the pandemic. I noted it is difficult to get help since the area is one of the highest cost of living areas in the U.S. Point Richard is a historic town and is on the National Registry of historic places. There are many small coffee shops and restaurants nearby that are reasonably priced, however. I recommend a getaway here to take your mind off of things. It is a great place to enjoy!

This is a nice hotel, just different from others - they are made of several buildings located close but apart of each other. When you book a room, it may be on the main building or in of the other ones. In my case, my room was located on the "Carriage" building, first floor facing the street. The room is really nice, large, well decorated with a small kitchen. The bed is queen size and super comfortable. Bathroom is also very good, large, bright. Wifi works very well. Air conditioning hot/cold, silent. TV (with Xfinity) is relatively small for the size of the room, could be replaced by a larger one.
There is no reception and no restaurant. You will not see hotel people and other guests, it is like staying in a house. At the day of check in, the hotel sends you a message on your phone (and an email) with a code number for you to enter your room. You also get a code to open the parking lot gate (at the same block as the "Carriage" building, 100 yards distance). On the other side of the street there is a railroad and trains will pass at night. You will hear noise from traffic as well, in case you get a room facing the street.
There are restaurants, bars, grocery shops, laundry, hair salon and others at walking distance.

We stayed in the carriage building and found the room to be clean and well appointed. Location was perfect and the instructions to gain entry were straightforward. The food in the restaurant at the main hotel (just a few yards away) was fantastic! One addition I would like to suggest would be to have a safe available in the rooms otherwise I would recommend this property to anyone without hesitation and will definitely return!

When there thinking we could eat where we staid. Wrong, restaurant been closed for 2 years. They will not tell you unless you ask specifically about it when booking. They also will not check you in face to face. Everything done through text and phone. Room was nice, but around 7pm they were either painting or vanishing in the closed bar and the fumes were horrific. Thank God for windows that open. Will never stay there again!!

We were pleasantly surprised by Hotel Mac and Port Richmond. The annex suites were perfect for a family of 4. Clean, well equipped kitchen if you wanted it. We loved walking the neighborhood and enjoying all the great local options for food and drink. Secure gated parking available, as well as ample street parking. Short walk to all the best of Port Richmond.

A terrific find! Our company has teams coming to town and found this gem. We have had great experiences in main building, carriage house, and annex. Unique and restored historic building, restaurant onsite, and in an awesome neighborhood (Point Richmond) with lots of small businesses, coffee shops, and restaurants. A little noise from trains at times but rooms are lovely with all amenities, wifi, modern bathrooms, etc. Highly recommend!

This hotel has the quaintness and flavor of Europe.
The host was gracious and accommodating.
The room was neat and tidy. The bathroom was spotless clean.
We had a fireplace which was very romantic.
I travel a lot and would highly recommend staying here.

My family and I had stayed at the Hotel Mac in Point Richmond on previous occasions without problems. On our most recent visit, I booked 3 nights in a suite room in the Annex building across from the main hotel. The decor was wonderful, exotic, and tasteful. However, when entering the room, there was a chemical odor that was literally unbearable. The irritant made my eyes burn and exacerbated my asthma to the point that I was not able to sleep and contemplated going to the ER in case my inhalers and antihistamines did not work. The following night, one of my relatives had a similar reaction.

Upon informing the management of the situation, we were told that the malodorous room was simply due to Downy fabric softner, Windex, or PineSol cleaner. I clean my house with these common cleaners and the problem was not caused by these agents. This was an obvious attempt by the management to make excuses and downplay our very serious concern about the irritant in the room.

The room was aired out but this made no difference on the pungency of the chemical odor/irritant. Additionally, our request to repair the bathroom sink was not completed and it was noticed that housekeeping had gone through a suitcase. Furthermore, the electronic key card stopped working on the third night of our stay, resulting in a relative being stranded out on the sidewalk. Because no managment is available after 7pm at the hotel, this would have been a disaster if someone did not drive out to Point Richmond to bring the second key.

I would not stay at the Hotel Mac again or recommend it to family and friends after this experience. We should have checked out the first night of the problem but we didn't because of the lack of higher quality hotels in the area.

We were looking for a place for Florida friends to stay, and were considering a Quality Inn, but decided to check out Hotel Mac, and glad we did.

It changed a normal experience to something to talk to friends about for years. The rooms are not just tastefully, but intensely decorated, spotless, furnished to the hilt, and have free breakfasts across the street at a hotshot restaurant.

And downtown Pt Richmond, all 600 feet of it, has restaurants, library, small supermarket, video store, Starbucks, galleries, doctors, lawyers, nightclub, bars, and is about a mile from one of the secret beaches to die for, Keller Beach and Nichols Knob, from which you have a 360 of the Bay Area.

My wife and I were very impressed with Hotel Mac, exceeded our expectations in every way. We booked one night in the Country Garden room (other rooms were booked out), fearing it might be a bit frilly for our tastes, but were pleasantly surprised when shown in by the gregarious manager. Decor was simple and tasteful, not at all flowery like we expected. Bed was exceptionally comfortable with quality linens and pillows. Room was very well-equipped: fridge, vcr, large TV with good cable, a couple of warm terrycloth robes, iron/ironing board, safe, large closet, and a very warm gas fireplace. Windows open and have good wooden shudders for privacy. Bathroom was huge and sparkling, with skylight, tub/shower, hairdryer, nice tiles, quality amenities, and spotless. The website photos of the hotel and rooms do not do them justice at all, much nicer in person (our room had been updated since the photos were taken). We had a look at the Tally Ho Suite on our way out-wow! Huge, homey two-room suite with jacuzzi tub for a very reasonable rate. Point Richmond is an interesting place to explore for a day or two and makes an excellent weekend getaway from anywhere in the Bay Area. Miller-Knox Regional Shoreline has some primo hiking opportunities with panoramic 360* views of the entire bay, and the tiny Keller Beach is a hidden gem. Lots of history here as well. We will certainly be back!
