Beautiful place to visit run by a non-profit, facilities are well kept. They have a few quarters that can be rented for overnight stays, and I was given the opportunity to check out the latest renovation. The 3 bedroom 2 bath unit was very inviting and cozy(not small).

Thanks for visiting us, and I hope you come back and stay in one of our six vacation cottages - Nothing like the unique experience of spending the night at the Lighthouse!

Point Arena Lighthouse, at 115 feet, is the tallest lighthouse on the West Coast of the US. The old Foghorn Building was transformed into a Museum & Gift Shop. The 23-acre windy site is the premier tourist destination in Mendocino County & one of the best whale-watching spots on the North Coast. Surrounded by water on 3 sides, the rocky...

Wow, you pretty much wrote the perfect description of this magical place! I am fond of referring to the view of the ocean crashing along Manchester State Beach to the east of us as my living oil painting. Hope you can come back and stay with us in one of our six vacation cottages and take your time getting lots...

I decided to bring Willie Nelson along with me with ATF as a chaser, vino, local brews, chips, candy, more candy, windowpane, shrooms, red vines, and I am sooo happy I did :-) After four rainy daze in Fort Bragg with our eyes on the bright side (lost in our minds one morning behind the sculptured magical wooded gate to...

What a poetic recital of your North Coast sojourn! So glad we were a cherished part of it, and that our migrating whales treated you to a parade of spouts. Hope to see you again soon!

Great customer service and cool tour. The people who work there love what they do and have a love for this lighthouse. Great views. Their gift shop has cool local artists and clever gifts. They are completely non-profit so your paying to help keep a beautiful place open and running. Everything closes at 3:30 and we got there late yet...

I enjoyed giving you both a tour of the Museum and the Lighthouse Tower and you were so warmly appreciative of it! I hope you come back with your Dad and stay in one of our vacation rentals, and maybe go on a Full Moon Night Tour.

PALH is run by a friendly, hospitable & dedicated staff & volunteers. I stayed in the smallest unit available that looked right out on the Lighthouse. It had everything I needed--microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker & awesome wifi. They also provided a DVD player with 3 DVDS, one--FOREVER YOUNG, partially filmed there. The bed was comfy, the bathroom clean & the room...

The vista is simply breath-taking, day time or at night. Recommend you stay here if you want some serious chilling out or if you're celebrating your anniversary. If you want some alone time, doesn't get any better than this. I simply love this!

Especially with the big storm outside, curling up in your room with the wood or gas stove burning away - doesn't get much better! Thanks for staying with us and for the great recommendation.

Don't be fooled by the plain and a bit worn looking exterior of the lighthouse keepers accommodations. Structures out here take a beating being so close to the Pacific Ocean! We stayed in the Keepers Room, a cozy room for two with private bath, mini-fridge, gas fireplace, and amazing views of the historic lighthouse, and coastline where the movie Forever...

Thanks for the nice review, Annette, and so glad you enjoyed your stay in the Keeper's Room. We do get the wind and cold sometimes in the winter, but glad the gas fireplace kept you warm and that the ocean lulled you to sleep. Look forward to seeing you again soon!

Had enough stress in your everyday life? Escape to the tranquility of Point Arena and the solitude of a few nights at the guest cottages at the Point Arena Lighthouse. I couldn't agree more with your observation about the amazing scenery out here and the sleep inducing sound of the crashing waves. You and your puppies got a great stretch to be out here, and I hope your wife gets to make it out the next time you come. Thanks for staying with us and for the great review.

We have stayed at the cottages before and loved them, but when we entered cottage #4 this year we were awestruck by the improvements! They are beautiful, modern and comfortable! We were impressed by the decor that was representative of the history of the lighthouse and the placards next to each items explaining it's individual history. The staff, as usual...

We visited here on our way down the pacific coast in October. It was a nice stopping point because there aren't a lot of places to stop or stay in this area. Whether you stay one night or one week, your experience here in our vacation rentals and incredible location will leave you feeling rejuvenated and inspired. We offer the luxurious Assistant Keeper's House 4 as our showplace cottage. It is a a fully renovated and re-imagined 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with gourmet chef’s kitchen, beautifully furnished living and dining rooms, custom tile baths, designer furniture and linens in all bedrooms, unique art and decorative features and more! Like all of our Assistant Keeper's Houses it includes a a wood burning fireplace (we provide the wood and kindling), full kitchen, satellite television, CD/DVD player, gas fireplace in the master bedroom and the most incredible views along the California coast, as the Point is surrounded by water on three sides. Our other two Assistant Keeper's homes offer more rustic accommodations, but still offer full 3 bedroom, 2 bath houses with fully stocked kitchens, comfortably furnished living and dining rooms, unique art and decorative features, satellite television, CD/DVD player, gas fireplace in the master bedroom and more! These units are also pet friendly, and share the same incredible views that all of our cottages offer. The Head Keeper's House is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath full home with a fully stocked kitchen, dining room, sleeper sofa in the nicely appointed living room and of course the wood burning stove with all the wood and kindling provided, satellite television, CD/DVD player, books, games and more. This small but fully featured room boasts a queen bed, sitting area with table and chairs, gas fireplace, microwave and mini-fridge and a full bathroom. This is our only cottage that does not offer a kitchen, but you can find many fine restaurants in the area. You will also find a welcome gift of a bottle of Husch Vineyards wine and chocolates from Mendocino Chocolate Company waiting for you in the dining room of your Assistant Keeper’s home. Finally, you will sleep deeply and awake refreshed because of the sound of the ocean lulling you to sleep on our super comfortable Tempur-Pedic mattresses.
