Out of this world hospitality in an incredible villa situated on incredible setting Wills and Katherine treated us a royalty. Wills is a master chef and his morning creations are fabulous. Afternoon wine and cheese time are full of wonderful wines and cheeses. We enjoyed a private dinner cooked by Chef Wills (who has an extensive and impressive resume). The Villa sits atop a hill overlooking multiple vineyards equally as impressive as any Tuscan property. Only four suites which allowed privacy if wanted or opportunity to visit and make new friends. Highly recommend this adventure We were here for four nights and each day and night were special on their own
We recently stayed here for three nights in March. Wills and Katherine are great hosts! Wills is a professional chef, having worked at the Playboy mansion in Los Angeles for 30 years. He puts so much energy and thought into breakfast that it will blow you away. Kath has developed a bird feeding program that attracts so many interesting birds that we were enthralled. Where else will you see quail, doves, jays, wrens, orioles marching/flying past your door and window on a daily basis? Just the sounds of the birds make this worth a visit. Both of the hosts make a point of introducing all the guests to each other. There is a daily evening wine tasting hour where we had some good conversations with other guests and also we were quite impressed that both hosts spend an hour or more sitting at the table daily with the guests--far different than we have experienced at other places where a carafe of wine or a tray of cookies is set out and the guests are on their own. Wills also makes a tray of tasty treats to accompany the wine. The location of the villa is atop a hill with a 360° view of vineyards in every direction, located in pristinely quiet countryside but only 2 miles from Paso Robles town center. When you leave, Wills and Kath walk you out to your car and present you with a going away gift. Hugs are involved! This is truly one of the finest experiences we have had at a B+B. It is a pleasure to wander into the kitchen and talk to the hosts about things to do, places to see. There were no significant negatives, but there are rules that must be followed. Example: remove your shoes before entering the bedroom. Not too much to ask!…
My wife and I came here with three other couples, one of whom was celebrating a milestone birthday. The hospitality and ambiance were phenomenal, and Chef Carter (of Playboy Mansion fame) is the proprietor here and there are some amazing culinary experiences that you can make happen during your stay at the Canyon Villa. Chef Carter made some amazing food for every food eating occasion. Beautiful views, clean facility and it’s an adults only venue with only 4 rooms so we had basically rented the facility out to our party. Can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommend to friends and couples wanting a quaint upscale long weekend experience in the central CA wine country.
Myself, my husband, and three other couples stayed at Canyon Villa for a weekend in June 2022. We were very impressed with the atmosphere, cleanliness, and quality of everything. The food and service was spectacular!!! My birthday meal was absolutely amazing customized to my palate and done in such a professional manner. Every meal and wine hour was delightful. I will definitely return and highly recommend! The location is excellent, very quick drive to Paso downtown, and yet it feels so remote and private. Comfortable beds, impeccable rooms, views for days, and attention to detail. Cool towels upon arrival is one example of feeling pampered after you’ve traveled and it’s 100 degrees outside! Cannot wait to come back! ~Very impressed guests, Lori and Josh
I made our reservations at this beautiful location almost a year ago for my husband and my 40th wedding anniversary. I figured someplace elegant and special was going to add to the celebrations. I spoke to Wills to make the reservations, all went smoothly. A couple of days before checking in I received an email with a handbook attachment from Kath. I opened it and started reading the rules and regulations. No shoes in the room, evening wine hour between 5-6pm, breakfast 8-8:30AM!! And absolutely no food or drinks in the rooms. What about vacation does this not say. We checked in and Kath was there to greet us. Very warm welcome. As we were getting our stuff out of the car she looked down into my purse and noticed a white bag. She immediately asked if there was food in the bag. I told her no, it was not. The tone shifted when she asked and it was not pleasant. Since we arrived close to Wine Tasting hour ~ 5pm, we went straight in and met another couple at the main dinning area. We were presented with 2 different wines by both Kath & Wills. Wills is the chef and came out with charcuterie boards for each couple. He described the 2 varieties of meats and the 2 varieties of cheeses. at precisely 6pm we heard an alarm go off in the kitchen and wine tasting concluded. Wow! On a time schedule. Breakfast the next day was at 8AM! When on vacation I do not necessarily want to rise before this just for breakfast. We went out about 8:15am and I could Kath was not over joyed that we were "late" for breakfast. Again, they want breakfast to be over by 8:30AM. The food was nice, not the most elegant, but nice. The room ~ was overlooking a vineyard. Nice views and there was a patio to enjoy being outside the room. The only thing missing was maybe a morning coffee at the table or a glass of wine in the evening as the sun goes down. NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE ROOMS!!!! The bed is a double size not even a Queen! I've been married to my husband for 40 years and we have squeezed into so beds before, but not paying over $400 a night. Question you might have ~ would we go back. No. When I walked in and re-read all the rules of the house and understood the timing of everything, I felt like I was reliving my teenage years living at home. This is not a vacation atmosphere. I really, really wanted to leave a glowing review as I so wanted to love this place.…
This was our first bed and breakfast stay and wow, the bar is set high! Thank you Wills and Kath for your amazing hospitality, you know what you’re doing. Wills food will blow you away. Kath’s warmth and welcoming persona will make you feel at home. We can’t wait to come back and celebrate again! Photos: @nikkelsphotography
My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Canyon Villa on our 3rd visit. There are so many reasons we keep coming back - the welcome we get from Kath and Wills, the spectacular breakfasts and wine hour nibbles, the gorgeous and convenient location, the extremely comfortable and quiet rooms. On this visit we really enjoyed sitting on our balcony and watching the birds and other wildlife. Needless to say, we'll be coming back the next time we're in Paso!
My wife and I visited between June 8-10 and our stay was extraordinary in every way. Katherine and her husband Chef Wills went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The Villa is perched on a hilltop with a commanding view of the valley and the vineyards--a breathtaking location. We stayed in the Sienna Room which was very comfortable and had a king bed. The piece de resistance X 2 was Chef Wills gourmet breakfasts and daily wine tasting with a personalized charcuterie board--I would return for those two experiences alone. A relaxing and very tranquil visit; highly recommended and we would return.
This place is perfect! The property itself is beautiful. The outside is gorgeously landscaped with plants, statues, fountains and places to sit to take it all in. The inside is so luxurious! The decor, cleanliness and all the attention to details (tea, coffee, amenities) make for a pampered feeling from the start. We were greeted by the owner on arrival and she was so welcoming. The chef, the other half of the ownership, is hands down magic in the kitchen. They serve an exquisite breakfast and have small plates and wine tasting daily. IT WAS AMAZING! We were on a weekend getaway and we felt transported in this place. It was the perfect place to stay while enjoying wine country. Thank you so much for such a luxurious weekend! 100% will recommend!
My fiancé and I took a weekend trip to Paso Robles and we were blown away by our experience at The Canyon Villa. The property is truly one of kind with breathtaking vistas that transport you to a Tuscan holiday. The proprietors, Kath and Wills take pride in their hospitality and made us feel like a part of the family. The proximity to the downtown area and wineries made our wine touring and dining a breeze! Our room was very well appointed with plush linens, spa-like bathroom, and a warm decor. Being a four-room villa creates an intimate experience with the other guests who we enjoyed getting to know over our stay. Kath went out of her way to make sure every detail was designed to give us a unique and memorable experience. Chef Wills delivers a Michelin Star level dining experience with breakfast, charcuterie, and wine pairings every morning and evening, but I highly recommend reserving the prix fixe dinner at least once during your stay. Highly recommend for couples looking to enjoy a relaxed yet refined holiday in wine country.…
