We are very pleased to write this praise for the entire CaliPaso Winery team regarding our amazing stay at the Villa. We arrived at late night passed 10pm to be greeted by a friendly staff who stayed beyond their normal desk hours to make sure that we are taken care of. What was even more amazing that once we find out that our EV is not compatible with the chargers on site, the Facilities Manager, Modesto, ended up fabricating a custom extension box literally in the middle of the night so we can recharge our car by the morning. The degree that the team went out of their way to satisfy us was truly remarkable and we have yet to seen before, even though we travel a lot. To top it off, the breakfast served by Ruth and her team was amazing. The place is truly a gem and we highly recommend to stay at CaliPaso for its natural beautiful setting and rooms, as well as for the truly outstanding level of service.…
The room was over decorated to look like an Italian Disney ride. It is not kept up well, the people working or should I say, person, is completely unhelpful when it comes to hospitality. The price for this property during Covid is exorbitant. Breakfast is horrible ingredients and nothing as advertised. Be sure to call if you decide to take the risk of staying here and reserve the room you want. I paid for a King Deluxe Suit and upon arrival was given a Queen Deluxe suite. Even though I made it clear upon reserving that I was bring my two kids. They did give us two roll away beds, but they should have lowered the price in that case. I suppose a king bed wouldn't have been that different because the beds must be older than the bed and breakfast. I could feel the springs and when my husband went to try to roll away beds, he got closed inside as it collapsed into itself. The room had no bar soap or water. All in all, I would have chose Allegretto which is just up the street because the price for this hotel is a 4 or 5 star hotel price for a 2 star bed and breakfast. Did I say breakfast wasn't as advertised?…
If you stay here and have no issues that need addressing, you'd probably rate it 4-5 stars but as soon as you have an issue, it goes down and that's what happened for us. We stayed for 3 nights in early Aug 2020 and below was our experience: Pros - Gorgeous property, every room has a beautiful vineyard view and very Italian inspired - Breakfast was delicious and the server was super nice - The wine happy hour was generous with a tasty appetizer - All rooms have outdoor access so during these strange covid times, you don't have to worry about a lobby, elevators etc which was nice Cons: - Upon arriving we were taken to our room (Pinot Grigio) and found two issues: the bathroom sink didn't drain and the safe was broken. This was at 230PM... the front desk woman (Liz, who was nice but not effective) said she would ask the maintenance person to come fix it and should be done in an hour or so. We left and returned at about 730PM and nothing was fixed/no one had been in our room. I asked Liz about it and she said he had been there and it was fixed. But I assured her it wasn't... so then she called him again and apparently he was "out getting parts"? Keep in mind this is 5 hours later. Okay... so went back to our room and around 9PM I went back to ask where this person was? Surely it didn't take this long to get a part in this small town. She contacted the Manager (Jamie) who said he was on his way, within 15 minutes. We waited again, no one showed up. At 10PM Liz offered us a different room which was helpful but a hassle as we had already fully unpacked and cleaned the room ourselves (again, covid!) so didn't want to risk another room. But we ended up moving because no one seemed to be coming, so we took 5 trips up and down the stairs to move all of our stuff (without any help). Liz said Jamie would talk to us in the morning about the issue and what she could do to resolve it. Jamie never spoke with us during our 3 day stay which was frustrating. - There is no pool, no restaurant, no bar, very weak wifi and no management/service here really so if you go in knowing that, I think it is a nice place for sure. The other people working there were nice. - Staff were frequently not wearing masks when we saw them, especially the cleaning staff. That worried me. Also in our first room there was food leftover in the fridge from a prior guest! So I question how well they clean? Room tip: Second floor rooms have a better, more sweeping view but a smaller balcony. The second floor balconies had a small table and two chairs (good for coffee or a glass of wine) while the first floor patios have large spaces with a table you could eat dinner on.…
Spent a nice time in this beautiful hotel. All outdoor hallways and outdoor staircase lead to rooms for non covid stress check in and checkout. They let us just go straight to room and wine and cheese were waiting. They only have a few rooms so it’s a small cozy vibe but giant rooms and all have big balcony doors for breezy rooms overlooking vineyard. Very quiet and very few people around. Perfect for vacation n time of corona. Enjoy!
The room was spacious and invitingly decorated. The gas fireplace made it even more pleasant to relax in the room. The breakfast was exceptional. The evening wine happy hour was very good, too. The staff is warm and friendly. The view from our room was beautiful, and would be even better during summer and fall when the vines are growing and producing fruit.
