When I got home and checked my credit card statement, I found that Cowper had overcharged me. No big deal - I figured it was an honest mistake, emailed copies of my reservation and credit card statement, and asked them to fix things. Nothing happened. Eventually I called and was told they'd overbooked, given away my room, bumped me up...

This is certainly convenient! Breakfast was ample, with healthy choices. Our room was next door with its own kitchen and DR, very convenient if you wanted to cook or eat take out meals. Clean accommodation although bathroom was super small.

Cowper Inn is a nice an cozy place, stayed there for about two weeks. Breakfast was good with a range of options available and fresh juices. 2 minutes walk from the famous University Avenue and Caltrain was just 10 minutes away. If you are a Muslim and looking for halal food there are a couple of decent restaurants very close...

We stayed in the room above the parking, which was large and had a complete kitchen. Great breakfast and very nice overall atmosphere. Walking distance to the town centre. $250,- a night is too much though.

As mentioned in other reviews this is a quant B&B in a quiet neighborhood. It is within walking distance of University Avenue, which is filled with nightlife and restaurants. The rooms are functional and the bed in my room #29 was quite comfy. The breakfast was excellent. The drawbacks: 1. There is no AC, which is ok. But my room...

Staying here several days whilst visiting Stanford. Have a lovely big room in the house next door. If you need everything swish and modern, this won't be for you. But if you like some older style furniture, fittings and style, this is great. Personally, I find it difficult to sleep in modern over-air-conditioned hotels. So an airy room with windows...

Very comfortable, quiet, private B&B. Location is very close to downtown, but is in a quiet neighborhood. The gardens are lovely. I had to be up early so I missed breakfast both days, but I really enjoyed my stay there, even though it was only 2 nights!

I would gladly rank it ZERO if I could. I made my reservations far in advance and received a written confirmation for a 2-night stay. Four days before departure on my business trip to Palo Alto I received a phone call from Cowper Inn stating that there's a "glitch" in their computer system and they can't accommodate me for 2...

Cramped, unhelpful staff, no cooling during summer, no service after evening, no trash disposal, poor wifi/no wifi, 1 set of keys for which replacement cost is $150. Communal bathrooms, low ceilings, overall very uncomfortable.

I have stayed at the Cowper Inn close to a dozen times over the last three years. Not only is the location incredibly close to downtown Palo Alto and an easy walk to Stanford, the Inn itself is charming. I happen to love Craftsman-style architecture, and the inn is a lovely example of it dating back to somewhere around 1900....
