We canceled a two-night reservation several days before our planned weekend stay. Then on Friday night we received an email welcoming us to the Country Inn. I phoned the proprietor John and he denied receiving our cancellation and insisted we pay for at least one of the nights we had reserved, or he would not let rooms to us in...

We have been staying at this motel a lot recently when my husband has to go to Stanford Medical Center. It has been beautifully upgraded and has beautiful landscaping all around it. The other great thing is that it is really reasonable considering prices in the area. We highly recommend it!

This is my second time staying at this motel. It is so well appointed I almost hesitate to refer to it as a motel. Everything about this place is impeccable, clean and tidy. A beautiful little spot in the middle of the city. I travel a lot and it is rare that you find such a well kept inn that...

Not worth the $20 I saved per night. The motel has a run-down exterior. Rooms are outdated. Has mold growing in shower grout and has weird smell in room. Motel is noisy being right next to 6 lane heavy traffic road and the doors do not seal well.

Dear JimmyJ146, We are so sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at our Inn. In the last 2 years all of our rooms have been redecorated with new furniture, new comforters, bedding, and new carpets and paint. Our grounds may be a little "sad" due to the extreme drought our area is experiencing. We are attempting to do...

We were looking for a place to stay in Palo Alto when visiting our son. It is hard to find good priced accommodation in this area but The Country Inn is great. I previewed many Hotels in Palo Alto and the Country Inn was the best value by far. It is an older style Motel but very clean and comfortable....

Don't let the standard appearance of the exterior fool you. The rooms were unique and welcoming with modern decor. We stayed in the corner room (lounge I believe) and were very pleased. John checked us in and was friendly and offered restaurant suggestions. The bumps along the road... Our room wasn't ready when we arrived 40 min following check-in. John...

Our daughter told us about this place, rating it highly. It's a great little place. Clean. Friendly. Beautiful little gardens and pool area. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Great quality for a reasonable price.

Like other reviewers stated, the front desk staff has very bad customer service. If you make any special requests, they will treat you like you are from another planet. I asked for a microwave in the room and they said normally they do not have microwaves unless it is an upgrade/premium room, but they will try. One was not installed...

This place is clean, quiet and well maintained. The bus stops right in front on El Camino Real and it is within walking distance of stores and shops. The staff is friendly and responsive. I have stayed in several places in Palo Alto, always looking for a good price, and this is by far the best.

My wife recently survived a near death coma. This was to be her first outing to see our niece graduate from Stanford. We called ahead to explain her need to avoid strong odors and disinfectants which can cause her to have seizures. When we arrived we asked if we could just check the room out to avoid any problems. We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Palo Alto Country Inn was built in 1954 along the El Camino Real, the main thoroughfare of that time. Shaded by large trees and surrounded by orchards, travelers would stay here when visiting Stanford University or the city of San Francisco. Founded by Italian immigrants, the Cesano family took care to provide excellent service, and clean, well-maintained rooms for their guests. Many became good friends as they made the Country Inn their home away from home. Today, the inn lies at the heart of a busy Silicon Valley. Destinations such as Google, Yahoo, Apple, Stanford and many Bay Area attractions are within easy reach. Although the surroundings may have changed, the Cesano children and grandchildren have carried on the traditions of providing an affordable and comfortable place to stay. The staff and the accommodations continue to earn the trust of returning clientele and the rave reviews of new visitors. Some special features of the Country Inn are the lovely garden patio that greets you as you arrive, the pool area with available barbeques and ample patio furniture, rooms with kitchens, free wi-fi, and consistently friendly service. At the Country Inn you will find all of the modern conveniences as well as enjoy the warmth and welcome of a quaint inn of days gone by. Please consider us as your hosts on your next trip to the San Francisco Bay Area. ... more   less
