Our room was clean and comfortable. The pool area is very nice with plants and shrubs. The rooms and pool are set back from El Camino so is quiet. The motel and grounds are well maintained The staff are friendly and we liked the grab and go breakfast which included yogurt, fruit, eggs and pastries.

Our room was large, comfortable, clean and quiet even though the hotel is located on a busy road. The size of the room is wonderful for families. Staff was friendly. Great pool. Breakfast was just a grab-and-go at the office. Convenient location within close driving distance to Stanford campus, and walking distance to grocery/stores/restaurants. Would happily stay here again :)

Palo Alto is very expensive for a motel stay, but appointments at Stanford hospital make it a necessary place to stay. I finally found Country Innn, clean, comfortable, small kitchen, and a 'reasonable' price, between $150-180. Very well kept, nice pool, quiet, even though on El Camino Real.

ManagerJohn not friendly , not welcoming. Room upstairs very warm inspite of the aircondition. Senior citizens with disability had to climb steep long stairs lugging heavy luggages. No elevator to help Manager John never offered any help or apologies Breakfast was grab and go - upstairs to your room to eat.

The lovely scent from the many flowering lemon plants made the hotel a very nice place to stay. We stayed for 4 nights in a double bedroom with a kitchen. The room was reasonably spacious. The kitchen was well equipped and clean except for a stained tray left in the oven. The location was good as there were many shops...

We have been staying at the Country Inn in Palo Alto for many years. We continue to return because it is a well-maintained and well-managed motel that has affordable rates. Over the many years we've been guests we have seen all aspects of the motel continue to improve. The rooms are nicely furnished, the beds are comfortable, and the grounds...

A 60 year old property that has stood the test of time and competes well against no shortage of local competition - the majority of which would be charging significantly higher rates for a similar product! Conveniently located on the El Campino Real Road with spacious and comfortably appointed rooms. The attractive grounds - including an outdoor swimming pool -...

This is the second time I've stayed here and to me it's obvious that the innkeepers take pride in this motel. Both the grounds and the rooms are spotless. The fact that it's family owned and not a chain speaks volumes. Kudos to the management. Truly a great place to stay for the price.

We were pleasantly surprised by this little motel/hotel in Palo Alto. Our room was spacious and well furnished, and the exterior of the motel and grounds appeared to be well maintained. Definitely one to consider if you are visiting the Palo Alto/Menlo area

We canceled a two-night reservation several days before our planned weekend stay. Then on Friday night we received an email welcoming us to the Country Inn. I phoned the proprietor John and he denied receiving our cancellation and insisted we pay for at least one of the nights we had reserved, or he would not let rooms to us in...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Palo Alto Country Inn was built in 1954 along the El Camino Real, the main thoroughfare of that time. Shaded by large trees and surrounded by orchards, travelers would stay here when visiting Stanford University or the city of San Francisco. Founded by Italian immigrants, the Cesano family took care to provide excellent service, and clean, well-maintained rooms for their guests. Many became good friends as they made the Country Inn their home away from home. Today, the inn lies at the heart of a busy Silicon Valley. Destinations such as Google, Yahoo, Apple, Stanford and many Bay Area attractions are within easy reach. Although the surroundings may have changed, the Cesano children and grandchildren have carried on the traditions of providing an affordable and comfortable place to stay. The staff and the accommodations continue to earn the trust of returning clientele and the rave reviews of new visitors. Some special features of the Country Inn are the lovely garden patio that greets you as you arrive, the pool area with available barbeques and ample patio furniture, rooms with kitchens, free wi-fi, and consistently friendly service. At the Country Inn you will find all of the modern conveniences as well as enjoy the warmth and welcome of a quaint inn of days gone by. Please consider us as your hosts on your next trip to the San Francisco Bay Area. ... more   less
